Will Danny Garcia be as big as De Jesus/Cotto/Trinidad in Puerto Rico?

Puerto Rican boxing is kind of in the dumps right now so it's a perfect time for Garcia to capture the adoration of Ricans and if he keeps winning it might happen but he'll never be considered 100% Puerto Rican the same way DLH was not fully accepted by Mexicans.

he's probably going to be put in the category of a guy like camacho. even though camacho was born in p.r. he never really had the love guys like rosario, benitez, gomez, trinidad and others had.

If he ever manages to beat Floyd, you can bet your bottom dollar that the Puerto Ricans will adopt him :yep

It would instantly make Garcia a superstar (In America/Rico)

After the Matthysse win, Garcia is already a talked about man there. Imagine if he gets a few more big wins.

He will be the next Cotto/Trinidad.

in some ways...he reminds me of trinidad. a lot of ppl weren't sold on tito right away. ppl were always picking against him and he looked vulnerable early on. but once he started ko'ing everyone....and winning impressively...the band wagon filled up immediately. it'll be the same with danny.

I don't think he will ever be as popular or as big as tito/cotto but that thing about not talking spanish is silly. He can speak chinese as far as im concerned. Ko talks. Garcias popularity will depend on a really big mainstream win and the development of verdejo

He may have a bit better lifestyle now, but he grew up in Juniata a very spanish neighborhood. It's not the ghetto, majority hover around poverty and lower middle class in regards to income.

He now lives in Bensalem, right outside the city. Far cry from affluent in regards to other surrounding neighborhoods. He invested some money in a gym recently so he is making some business moves that hopefully pay off in the long run.

Trying to gain a bigger fan base is smart in building a brand. When you have a brand you are bigger than just being a fighter.

I think Puerto Rico boxing needs this, and will show Danny some love and support. However, he most likely won't be embraced as Trinidad was, but if John Ruiz was accepted, I feel Danny can be a big part of boxing for PR fans.

    John Ruiz was accepted?

****, he doesn't even get love in Massachusetts and we are starving in the post-Marvin era for some world class talent.

    Famished.

PR can have old huggy bear, though I doubt they really want him.

No one said he is. His parents are and Garcia has PR blood

How exactly is he overrated? If anything, he's underrated.

He's actually one of the most underrated fighters in boxing. Fact!
