You do of course realize that once a boxer has a lost, he is going to be someone's leftover

Is it just more hate for mayweather, or do you apply your logic to all boxers?

Please provide an analysis of your purse split for Floyd and Pacquiao.

I personally think it should be 50/50. The reason is that both make the fight. It would be the highest grossing fight of all time. Both fighters would receive more than they ever received.

Pretty simple. Floyd says the fight is easy. Pac appears to be very keen to fight.

the problem with your post is he did have that power and thats was before he even grew into his WW body with Ko's over Cotto Hatton. He dropped Cotto a couple of times and i remember 1 was nasty. now he cant hurt Bradley whos been down a few tmes, even by Holt. u cant say he doesnt have Ko power at 1467 because he did...so what happened??

Crazy if u think about it

if floyd beats pac 100 out of 100 times why doesn't he fight him already in what would easily be the biggest most lucrative fight of his career?

someone please tell me one fighter in the whole world that mayweather could fight that could generate more money?

    That's certainly fair, yes.

At the same time, it's also human nature for fans to want to see the best athletes fighting each other. Which they are paying for, after all.

It's a balancing act -- I think we need fans willing to (respectfully) push for the fights that need to be made. Fighters, in turn, should insist on getting paid enough to justify the risk.

The result is a negotiated settlement where we get pretty decent fights and athletes get pretty well paid. Reasonable?

Football inflicts lots of concussions on its players as well. It's not as awful as boxing, but it's a good analogue. And its fans also demand competitiveness.

THIS is absolutely true. Boxing is an awful mess, and it's really the promoters who can shave dollars off the top. We need a national organization like some other pro sports have.

Yup. The fans' interests and fighters' interests will always conflict. (And if a fan stops to think about his own attitudes too hard, he's apt to feel like a bit of a jerk.) The trick is finding a happy medium.

    I would agree.

Mayweather and Pacquiao really should have fought, though. It's disappointing, and the compensation was there. Oh, well.

floyd can't win because in the eyes of haters every opponent who floyd fought are claimed to be unproven or past his prime.
like alvarez BEFORE the fight everyone was saying floyd is ducking canelo,AFTER the fight it was a cherrypicking.
people also tend to forget floyd is already 36.i don't remember if we ever had P4P number uno at that age.
floyd is still fighting against champions, other greats have been going downhill past age 35.

and everybody including GGG wants a fight against floyd because they have nothing lose, look the example of canelo.
GGG drops to 154 and floyd wins, floyd don't get any credit.floyd goes up to MW and GGG was never any good.yes i think GGG would be harder fight than khan, maidana etc..but the big problem is it's always lose lose situation for floyd.

and in reality there are only two fights left for floyd.against bradley and pacquaio, after that there is nothing for floyd.yes duran moved to MW,but in same breath they protect hagler for staying whole his career at MW.

maybe we can just accept floyd staying rest of his career at WW,and in reality fighting against Canelo's of the world it's not about skills anymore.there is enormous gap in weight etc.. and greats from the past have same day weight ins.

Very good post and true. That's how it is though when you hit the top level in the sport, whoever you fight isn't good enough because the odds are always favoring you. Especially when you have an 0 to boot, you become somehow invincible regardless of opponent to the public.

Speaking of Guerrero and Ortiz though, both were world class for sure but not in Mayweather's level at all. Neither had a chance in hell as soon as the fights were signed and neither were ready for someone like Mayweather. Same thing with Khan, who I rate a worse opponent for Mayweather than Ortiz and Guerrero at this stage in his career.

He could have KO'd Concreto but clearly carried him, we all know what happened in the Mosley fight and Marquez suffered a concussion after the fight despite being the winner. Don't expect him to KO Bradley, Bradley is a difficult style to look impressive against.

    So you are a *******.

50/50 is completely bs and you know it.

    Mayweather's PPV #'s completely trump Pac's.

Mayweather is coming off a huge win

Manny is coming off Rios and KO6.

Mayweather will do far better #'s in his next PPV

65/35 of the total with PPV would be fair if Pac does the same to Bradley he did the last time.

I think Pacs power was simply GREATLY overrated because of the Hatton KO. Oscar quit on his stool and the ref stopped the Cotto fight.
