Rofl! It was as neutral as it could get.

Danny was the clear underdog, not many thought he would win

He proved all the doubters wrong and knocked Matthysse the fk down and shut his eye out. :deal

    Matthysse won't knock Danny out.

Too much ability and chin is too granite.

He'll need a few more really solid wins to even come close to Tito's popularity. Trinidad had a string of high quality world title defenses before his 22nd birthday FFS.

I feel he was. Not to a Trinidad or Cotto level, but people recognized one of their "own" became HW champ/titlist.

I will say though, no one really "hurt" when he lost :think

No because he's not a traditonal rican. And by that I mean he doesnt even speak Spanish, so I dont know how much he can relate with Ricans. He's pretty Americanized.

It's the same reason why Canelo wont be a CROSSOVER success. He doesnt speak english.

The thing that made DLH a crossover success was that he could speak both languages, so both attracted to him .

If you aren't born and raised in a country the natives might support you but won't consider you one of them.

Verdejo might crash and burn. I think everyone is jumping the gun with him. Most of the current undefeated prospects from PR seem headed for a brutal exposure at some point, IMO. (Jonathan Mantequilla Gonzalez, Jayson Velez, Luis Rosa etc.)

...they do have some good talent, however. It just happens to be guys who already lost their zero but can still rebound and learn from their losses and probably hold a world title belt and eke out a nice career for themselves. (Jonathan Bomba Gonzalez, Cesar Seda, Chelo Gonzalez, etc)

Danny already knows there's danger in a rematch with Matthysse and he'll avoid like no other

    Yeah right 115-111

Putting Matthysse on his rear end, shutting his eye with a devastating punch, winning on compubox stats and winning on all 3 scorecards = afraid of him.

He's moving up to 147 for bigger and better things.

And last but not least saying "Toodle-Loo, mfer" while doing that. :hi:

Doubt it not because of lack of talent or being in good fights, but simply if your not actually from the place you won't be as supported, You will never be given the same love our loyalty from the Puerto Rican people as those you named. Danny is American not from Puerto Rico his heritage will only get him so many fans.
