Just for fighting Matthyesse and holding his own Garcia gets credit, but it's clear Danny only started to take a lead in the fight AFTER fighting a handicapped Matthysse. But these things happen in boxing and I think Danny knows he got very lucky against Matthysse and is wise to steer clear from him for now. Its pretty clear Danny is saving himself for Mayweather, which is fine. 2 safety first fights to stay busy at 147 then a Mayweather-Garcia fight gets made.

I'd like to see Garcia fight Provodnikov before moving up, seen as he's the new champ. After that unless he rematches Matthysse he has nothing left to prove at 140.

But a fight against either Provodnikov or Matthysse is better than Malignaggi.

Matthysse has to earn his rematch at this point, Garcia says he's not moving to 147 just yet, Matthysse needs a big win or 2, maybe move to 147 & fight Thurman, should he beat Thurman decisively then he's earned his rematch.

Not really. The fans want a rematch. The 1st fight was competitive enough and Matthysse is still more deserving than anyone at 140 not named Ruslan.

    What? You are kidding yourself.

Why the hell do you care what he gets paid? Are you his manager? So when a fighter you don't like takes a fight you don't approve you complain, but when a guy you do like does it, suddenly it's all about "a good business decision".

The stars aligned for Garcia that night with the eye injury, and he got away with a ridiculous amount of low shots.

I agree, I think Matthysse got a screwed by the ref that night, with all the low blows etc but the thing is Garcia ain't giving him that rematch, so Matthysse has to force it by getting a really good win or 2.

Garcia beat Matthysse convincingly the fight wasn't close so I understand why Garcia is saying no rematch for now (if/when then both move up to 147 they can re-match then). I can see him fighting Herrera, then fighting Peterson in a unification bout, then moving up. Shame he can't fight Ruslan for obvious reasons

    Paulie better than Matthysse

I do agree though that 147lbs he has more options and bigger money fights.

That was a good fight which ccould have been different if that eye injury didn't happen. The result might have been the same though because Garcia is a more skilled boxer than Mattysse, more crafted even though he might have less talent. What I mean is that a more skilled boxer tend to get better as the fight moves on.

I would definitely watch the rematch!

Even though Thurman and Garcia are really tight, I really want to see a fight between them

Thurman poses a much higher threat than Matthysse for Garcia.

A Porter fight would also be amazing.

Garcia has his hands full @ 47
