Can he sit on it indefinitely without fighting #1 contender?

martinez has fought 2 undefeated middleweights, chavez jr the WBC titlist and Martin Murray. Also fought Mathew Macklin who was highly ranked. 2 fights before these Martinez fought undefeated challengers. Kinda hard to look good as good as GGG when all he has feasted on are washed up junior middleweights or Martinez left overs like Macklin...

    :good

The truth is that Martinez is a semi-shot fighter. He's old right now. If he beats Cotto and looks good, probably HBO will force a fight between him and 3G, of course give to both fighters good money.

Martinez is the lineal champ, yes.

You don't lose that because another MW is doing rather well.

sergio is like odin, asleep on his throne without his spear, while golovkin is thor wielding a hammer throughout the realms.

I think I had Murray by a point, but he also had Martinez down once that wasnt counted for some reason, sure martinez started well, but after 4 rounds all he did was throw punches to Murrays guard, all martinez did was throw punches that didnt land, murray landed all the telling shots after round 4, he took control of the fight outlanded Martinez with significant blows - if i remember correctly barring round 12

    Sergio is the champ. Period.

If he retired right now, my God, Middleweight would be home to the least accomplished and/or worst current form "best fighters" of any single division in boxing...

Is Stevens being considered by Al Hayom as one of Quillins next opponents? Damn that would be good and yeh I think Stevens takes him out.

AFter sergio knocks out midget cotto in NYC...he had BETTER fight GGG or just retire.

No more calling out mayweather or Canelo...neither of them will fight him.

GGG or go back to argentina a b-itch.

No excuses..both HBO fighters. Arum and dibella have made MANY fights together.

Its a nice post Hookie, and Sergios been an awesome fighter over the years, but no, he's no longer the man at 160

People clamouring for a Martinz Golovkin showdown need to realize something - its a fight Martinez at this stage in his career just cant win. In fact he would be brutally beat down and knocked out

Sergio's given us some amazing fights over the years. Hes proven. He ducks no one.

But i got a horrible feeling the fight might actually happen, if enough money is put on the table
