That's pretty lame. He did win the fight clearly, but the fluke eye injury was a big part of it. Garcia wants no part of him, knows he might lose this time. It's as simple as that.

Fluke eye injury- It was a short 2 inch calculated punch on the inside

    Get over it.

    115-111, 114-112, 114-112, UD for Garcia

Garcia won on punchstats, he busted Matthysse's eye up, he put Matthysse on his rear end and exposed him. End of story!!

    Butthurt Matthysse fanboys. Jesus Christ!!

You guys are ALMOST as bad as KLITTARDS

Wait, getting beat very closely by one round (on 2 scorecards) with a dubious eye injury that helped swing the fight is exposing somebody in your book? **** off MVC, you're a joke.

It was a good fight and a very close fight where both guys done well, it was definitely close enough to deserve a rematch.

If Garcia exposed Matthysse so badly then why wouldn't he be willing to do it again and make good money doing it? If it was that easy then why go up to 147 to probably fight Paulie for more than likely less money than he'd get rematching Matthysee?

People asking why go up to 147 and fighter names that make less money are not getting the point. It's the entrance into 147 where his name can be thrown around more and more realistically to fight Floyd or Pac (if he beats those other names convincingly) by everyone involved in boxing that will set his career into high gear. Whether he actually fights Floyd or Pac or not won't matter, the constant questioning will be the advertising, legitimacy, and validation recognition he deserves.

    1. Everyone thought Matthysse would knock Garcia out in less than 3 rounds so yes he was exposed in that regard you nuthugger

    2. If all close fights warrant rematches, the boxing world would be filled with rematches. :dead

It was a 114-112, 114-112, 115-111 kind of fight. Relatively close but CLEAR/DECISIVE if you watched the fightt. There is no one with the right mind who think Matthysse deserves the nod

    3. You're severely overestimating Matthysse's drawing power. Very very ignorant to boot.

A fight with Paulie in NY would probably draw more than another fight with Matthysse.

    I agree....

Garcia hit the lottery with that win, and a rematch would be like getting into a time machine just to go back to the day your #s came in to change them. :rofl:rofl:rofl

Garcia #1 at 140......time to move up and take his place as #4 @ 147.:good

I was definitely rooting for Matthysse but hey, Garcia beat him, even though the scorecards were close, and probably a little closer than they should.

Garcia made mattheyse look very crude, 90% of fans on here thought he would be smashed so in turn look for excuses to justify their original pick! simple as that, too many fans can't seem to fathom that they get fights wrong
