Iron Man George Chuvalo as he was ,place him in the late 1890's early part of 1900's, how big a wave could he make?

    Around then were contenders
    Armstrong
    Russell
    Maher
    Ruhlin
    Goddard
    Martin
    Choynski
    Slavin
    Sharkey
    Butler.

    To name just a few.
Would the Canuck do better than he did in his real heyday?

He could probably make it all the way to Des Moines and back.

You could say Chuvalo was well suited to for the times based on his style, but he was on the slow side, and not very skilled. Chuvalo lost quite a few decisions. While his power was solid, he never stopped an opponent who was currently in the top ten when he fought them.

I doubt he would become champion from the 1890's to early 1900's, and would pick Jackson, Corbett, Fitz, or Jeffries over Chuvalo.

Perhaps Chuvalo was a little better than Hart or Burns.

He could hang with them, but hew would have the same shortcomings as he had in his own era, and concequently he would loose to the best.

He'd be viewed as super strong and indestructible but would still be outboxed and out
speeded .. Corbett would have been way too fast. Fitz would have broken his hands trying to KO him but if he used his brain would have also out speeded him to a decision .. Jeffries seems to have far more skill and would decision him .. Burns I'm not sure but Johnson defeats him easily ..

Chuvalo was strong and extremely durable, but of course not the most skillful boxer in his own era.

However, transport him back to the late 1890s - and we would today be researching old newspaper articles describing this amazingly clever genius, the likes of which the world had never seen before!

Based upon what ? He was terribly slow and lost decisions along the way to pretty much every decent fighter he ever fought putting aside Quarry ..
