TErrible Terry Norris vs Gerald (Gman) McCllelan

Prime vs prime who wins this shoot-out between the TNT in GMan`s fists vs the speed and slugging ability of Norris ? or is it just Norris/Jackson part 2 ???

 

Gotta go with McClellan here. Norris was chinny and that would spell disaster against a banger like G-Man.

 

Agreed.

 

McClellan was a giant middleweight with a solid chin and big time power. Norris was a smallish junior middle with decent power and a suspect chin.

Do the math.

 

Norris is too much the stylist with too much speed leaving the G-Man bewitched bothered N bewildered during the early rounds (too much speed)and would cruise untouched with an exhibition of clinching and hitting on the break (Hector Camacho style)

It may turn into a trade fest in the early rounds which would spell disaster for Norris...It would be fun to watch tho!!

Norris was a fine fighter but Gerald was a force of nature in the early rounds. I don`t think Terry survives the strom. Couple that with the size difference and it spells doom.

 

Norris wanted this fight about as much as he wanted Polio

 

I think Norris is being undersold here. If he could get a match at say no more than 156, and he avoids trouble for the first four rounds, he would probably stop McClellan late.

As mentioned there is a need to the maths, and the maths suggests that even fringe world class fighters who are still in the bout after four or five rounds beat McClellan...

 

I just can't see Norris boxing at a higher weight being as effective. Any big puncher who could box and take a good shot could be kryptonite for him.

 

I think this could be a contender for "fight between two champions from the same era in similar weight divisions most likely to result in a first round knockout loss for the historically higher ranked fighter".

It's not inconceivable that Norris could outbox McClellan, but considering the size difference, McClellan's power, Norris' chin, McClellan being a fast starter and Norris having a tendency to trade when hurt, this has an early blowout written all over it.

 

Although I just wrote a post detailing why the very talented Norris would school, Mayweather, I have to agree that G-Man would be a step too far. Certainly Terry would have a chance of outboxing Gerald if it went past 6 rounds. But, that just wouldn't happen. McClellan by knockout in 2 rounds or less.

 

McClellan would shatter his glass jaw at some point.

 

Mclellan was all physical, whereas Norris was highly technical. I put more faith in skills than raw strength. Norris could either grind out a decision or a TKO in the late rounds.
