Guys just to add my 2 cents worth to RTE re boxing coverage. It is well considered that boxing is not a main stream sport. That said its getting more coverage than lately due to the success of our Olympians. Nevin, Barnes, Conlan Taylor and Egan get endless coverage just not in the way that we boxing fans would like. If you go to the sports section and look at the GAA/Rugby reports you can see a long list of comments beneath them. Whenever there is a boxing report only 1 or 2 people are commenting. I think it would help (even if only in a minute way) if posters on this very thread made an effort to comment more on their boxing section where any articles are posted. The more we post there the more likely someone is to look at that as stat. worth a try.:deal
...speaking of Nevin, I'll be ringside for his pro debut next month on St. Paddy's. That will also be non-televised, as boxing isn't particularly mainstream stateside and especially not here in Boston or the New England area in general (sad because we used to have such a rich tradition In the sport) - and certainly no TV crews are flying out here for a card headlined by a third-rate prospect like Danny O'Connor - but I'll report with a full rundown including how JJN does. :good
Danny O Connor said it will be shown on fox sports and Boxnation Live on Paddys day IB . And get this this weeks show will be televised by Argentian tv haha ****ing joke but at least someone is showing it.
:happy Then watch for me on your telly. :hi: Now that you mention it, they did mention on FS1 that it was coming up on their schedule next month, I completely blanked on that. Great news for you lot across the lake with BN picking it up.
That is just so bizarre; Danny's biggest step up to date, against Vivian Harris (shot or not still a massive step up relative to Danny's prior résumé) was off-TV but a step back down in class gets to headline a nationally broadcast event. Solid card around it, though - Kavanagh, Santos, Kielczweski, Nevin obviously - and FS1 like BN is usually good about showing a lot of depth of undercard, minimum 4-5 bouts shown. Excellent chance Nevin reaches a wide audience in his first go.
Great stuff, enjoy. Three years of WSB boxing mean he's pretty much a pro already as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully fasttracked over there. :good
ta 4 that m8:thumbsup.... is tommy mccarthy... anthony cacace... ray ginley and tyrone mckenna fighting on this bill also:think:good
None of the above, to my knowledge. All local Massachusetts (or Golden Boy) prospects on the undercard, besides Nevin.
the boxers i mentioned are all part of the same promotion group as nevin... and there was talk of all these irish boxers fighting on the same bill around st paddys day:good
:think Already nine bouts listed, doubtful they would add that many on. http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=685162 There also don't appear to be any co-promoters for the event with GBP. Maybe just a one-off for Nevin before his group starts booking his shows, either here or back home. :conf
