Most people who know boxing know that Groves was very hurt at the end. Froch had him where he wanted him and there was only going to be one winner. And I'm talking as someone who had a massive bet on Groves. We all know the fight was stopped too soon by an idiot ref but it was clear what was happening and thats why the bookies have priced the rematch up the way they have. The bookies don't give away money.
And most people who know boxing (not including you) Very hurt? Groves was covering up he was fine. Froch on the other hand had a broken jaw and didn't face the camera for weeks
Yeah, Groves was hurt, but he was still covering up, he was still trying to fight back and he wasn't defenceless and hadn't even been knocked off his feet, and he seemed perfectly lucid when Foster let go of him and told him the fight was over. The fact of the matter is, there is reasonable doubt that Froch was going to get the KO win and that's why the IBF ordered this rematch, and that's why so many objected the finish of the fight and demanded a rematch, and that's why Froch got so much stick for all the crap he was saying after the fight and for trying to move on to a different opponent. Any claims that it was clear that Froch was going to win flies in the fact of reality. He might have won, his got a history of pulling the metaphorical rabbit out of hat in the championship rounds to do so, but he hadn't done enough and Groves wasn't hurt enough at the time to claim it with certainty - and that's why we're at the situaton we are now where a rematch is going to happen and is probably the most anticipated rematch between British fighters since Eubank and Benn. Good for you. Still doesn't change the facts. I dont understand betting odds at all - I'm happy to admit that - but given how closely fought the first fight was, and how controversial and premature the ending was, I do not see a justification for Froch being a clear favorite anymore than I would see a justification for Groves being clear favorite. I could understand Froch being a slight favorite in the odds but if they are making him a big favorite then I think they're overly generous to him.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=El0uQJy9j_4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51bAmx89ciw Are you blind?? He was stumbling around like a drunk and clearly sagged in to the ref. I'd hardly say he was fine. Look at the legs.
People go on about Froch took Groves best shots but came on strong. And that will have a big effect on George but Groves didnt get dropped in 9 rounds. Yet he dropped Froch in round 1 and he knows and Froch knows he can do that anytime in the fight. Find the odds a bit puzzling can see the fight like this. Groves has the ability to win on points if he is smart. Dont think Froch can Groves can land the ko punch. Froch cant his best bet is the jumping in and smoothering Groves and unloading. Still stick to the 6 round Groves by tko or ko. Can even see Froch getting pulled out for his own good. See a changing of the guard.
Groves was hurt Ive allways said that but anyone could easily find footage of Froch getting smashed in rounds 1 -7. Get it in slow mo and it looks gruesome. Have u seen the knockdown in round 1 Froch is out cold. You cant really use the slow mo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ1Sk_WNw6Y Well this is more what the ref would have seen. Look at Groves sag like a rag doll. He was either gonna touch down or Froch was going to continue to smash him up. All this bull**** about Groves being fine is just kicked on by the hysteria of the early stoppage but Groves was done. Three big shots he ate there and sagged badly. Would have been one way traffic after that.
This is a bold statement used by a few as some sort of evidence. I know my boxing and whilst I accept he was buzzed he was far from finished. He was hurt much worse against Anderson and was taking cleaner shots and came back. Froch looked knackered and was not hitting him clean. Froch's co-ordination was so off he was just landing the odd cuffing shot. I see nothing in the last 30 seconds which suggest Froch was about to finish the fight. Your arguement 'anyone who knows boxing.....' is obnoctious to say the least!!! We have heard McCrory, McGuigan, Calzaghe, Degale, Hatton, Atlas, Ward etc all say different. But then I suppose you know your boxing and they know ****!!!
