Jimmy Young is stays fit and motivated for the following four bouts -- 1) Chris Byrd 2) Lamon Brewster 3) Vitali Klitschko 4) John Ruiz How does he do out of these four?
To me Jimmy Young was a similar fighter to Chris Byrd in the sense that he won fights with his defense rather then his offense. I feel both Klitschko would dismantle him like they did or where doing in Vitali's case toByrd. In a fight with Byrd its very hard for me to pick a winner I think it would by a very close technical fight without many big punches landed which could go to either man on any given night. I think Young could possibly beat Brewster much like he was able to do to some hard hitting heavies of the 70's but I also think Brewster has a fair chance of knocking Young out or winning the fight based on being the aggressor and landing harder punches. Ruiz would be another close one, Young could potentially out box Ruiz but I could also see Ruiz smoothering Young and eeking out a decision.
I think Young does very well against Ruiz. The fight would be close on the cards but Young has the sophistication to deal with the pressure of Ruiz and he would hardly get frustrated by his jab'n grab. I think he does well against well against Brewster too. He handled a young Foreman, and while George had bad focus that fight that's still a way up from Brewster. I think Young frustrates and decisions Brewster. I don't think he wins against Byrd. Byrd was faster, and had good radar. Young will struggle to outpoint him and he can't stop him ever. Byrd by UD seems as solid a lock as anything in boxing, imo. Vitali Klitschko has the reach, timing and ring generalship to punish Young from afar. Not a competitive match imo.
Young beats Byrd and Brewster. He's loses a lopsided decision to Vitaly and loses a close decision to Byrd.
Young was slick, but not fast, powerful or active. He'd likely lose every round to Klitschko. The other fights would be competitive.
I'm no fan of Young's but if he could give Norton a tough fight , beat Foreman , and twice decision Lyle ,why would he lose every round to Vitali?
