Do you think Froch took groves lightly ?

I do think he thought Groves was a class or two below.

Thing is Froch fought 8 rounds than he should of really of been allowed to. I mean that KD was a fight ending punch. He gets up and somehow manages to put it on Groves in round 9.

It would of been interesting to see how the fight would of played out if the KD didn't happen in round 1. Froch for me only just found his feet in round 6 or 7. He looked like a man fighting his senses not just Groves.

I think he prepared just like he would any other fight. But he clearly thought he could just walk through Groves. Just look at the way he was about to launch a wild attack when he got put down. That was a huge moment in the fight. It will be interesting to see what happens if GG dosen't land something like that this time.

Froch is always prepared physically, he's clean living and doesn't have to lose much to make weight.
However, i do think he was under prepared mentally, with regards to what he would be up against in the ring. As another poster said, he knew what Groves would bring to the ring, but he thought his experience would nullify Groves work.
Groves surprised and hurt froch early, this gave him a massive advantage, and he still couldn't finish the job. i had Groves 3 rounds ( one was a 10-8 ) ahead at the time of the stoppage. now even disregarding the official scorecards, had froch dropped him and then won the remaining rounds, would people have called that a robbery ?

the first fight went exactly how I thought it would... I always thought they had similar styles but groves was a lot faster than froch, froch however has the better engine, chin and strength down the stretch, pick em fight number 2 depends if groves has improved like he seems to do every time he fights

Froch saw Groves as nothing more than a distraction while his eyes were on bigger prizes and it was billied that way too. No doubt the rematch will be billied as the greatest showdown since rocky and drago or whatever bile Hearn will spout to put bum on seats

Physically he was prepared 100% for GG but until that punch put him down 1st round mentally he didn't respect him.

I think nerves got the better of Froch. He started very slowly and looked anxious........then BOOM he's on his backside. He was then just trying to find his feet but he couldn't because Groves was all over him for the next 6 rounds.

Froch wasn't expecting Groves to be that good and start that quickly. Let's see how Froch starts next time.
