. . .but let's be honest, it's BORING as hell to watch a couple of guys roll around on the ground for five minutes.:yep
While I agree to an extent, MMA does have it's moments, but often cards are stunk up by that kind of lackluster "action" you describe. How often do you tune into the UFC?
Not very often. But other than a few fights I've seen where they actually stand up trade punches, most of the time it seems to degenerate into that rolling around on the ground crap. And when that happens, it's not worth watching. DULL doesn't begin to describe it.
If you can't abide wrestling, which I can't, then MMA isn't for you. Too bad, as I actually do like watching straight-up jiu-jitsu competitions, and judo, and of course kickboxing and the other striking arts with boxing still chief among them. It's that damn wrestling. Can't stand the stuff, never could (and wasn't much good at it, finding it much less intuitive than actual fighting - which may have played a small part in not liking to watch it...) ...and in modern hybridized MMA it has become a major integral factor, almost unavoidable. If you want to follow MMA you have to watch lots of wrestling and lots of guys whose main specialty and focus is as wrestlers. The whole sport is tainted with that crap (which, yes, requires skill and athletic ability but aesthetically, IMO will always be crap). I watched the early UFC in the rent-a-VHS-at-Blockbuster days in the 90's when it was a multidisciplinary free-for-all and had that fun circus act element to it...and tried giving the "modern" form a chance to grow on me for some years, but eventually just couldn't sustain interest with all that rasslin' going on. Can't tolerate viewing more than one five-minute round at once, now.
@International Butt Always wondered where your interest in MMA had gone I usually only watch 1-2 fights off any MMA card That way i stay interested in it, and get massively pumped for fights like Anderson Weidman II/Palhares comback in a couple weeks x
Come on! Who the heck would find that rolling around on the ground **** entertaining??? F***ing A, I'd rather watch paint dry!!
I think we all know who enjoys this crap "sport", other than the skin heads and tattooed ass holes who support this garbage.:fight
I don't mind watching the ladies roll around on the ground... Sure they look like beasts most of the time but after a few who notices the face?? IF Ronda Rousey fought every week I'd tune in.
What I find interesting is that as a mod you allow Zakman and Fatcity to constantly troll this forum with hompophobic bull****. :think
What the heck is "homophobic" about pointing out that it's f***ing BORING to watch a couple of guys - or girls, for that matter - roll around on the ground?atsch And it's not "trolling" to point out that this "sport" can't hold a candle to boxing when it comes to entertainment value. The fact that you won't address the argument basically shows you know it's true - when the fight hits the ground, MMA is DULL.
Just don't understand why people like you would bother to even make threads like these? If you don't enjoy it, don't watch it and don't comment on it! It really is very simple. Leave this forum for people who do enjoy talking about it. You don't find me stinking up some equestrian thread somewhere talking about how dull it is..
Your a grade A muppet Zakman. Every visit made in this forum by you is trolling. Everyone knows your homophobic - any look at your posts in the MMA forum show you for the troll you are. :deal
I think watching a combatant escape from a rear naked choke or an arm bar is exciting. They referees break the participants and restart from a standing position if there is not enough action on the ground. Wrestling is usually associated with "ground and pound", somebody escaping from that too is exciting.
