    I have watched boxing for 30 years and watched fights with My dad and some of the real timers and that rumor has been around since the dirty 30s at least

    His last fight at lightweight was in February 1978. Leonard-Duran 1 was in June of 1980.

    Duran had already beaten a top WW in Carlos Palomino earlier.

    Margarito was a H2H nightmare for anyone in the era or in history who would be favored over most HOF'ers.

    There's a ridiculous amount of these folks, too...

    Wouldn't say he was shot either, but he wasn't the same fighter he was.

    His hands were ****ed and his head wasn't screwed on at that point in his career.

    Still, can't take it away from Barrera.
