Tests with pressure sensors, show that smaller gloves make almost no difference to the force with which a blow lands. It came as a bit of a shock to me too, but that is the result of the testing.
Yeah, I agree, this is weird. But people always talk about more damage being done to hand and face. But it don't make sense, both things don't make sense.
Some people on this forum really haven't got a clue. David Tua was a contender, whilst Dempsey was a champion. Dempsey would have torn Tua apart. Dempsey fought in a much tougher era and managed to rise to the top. Just because Tua had a great wallop he was very much a second tier fighter who lacked true championship calibre. He relied on his equalizer to win a bout and generally faltered when this didn't work against the best fighters.
For every winning lottery ticket, there are many that lack one number to make up the sequence. It is like that with great fighters.
What title did Tua win?...Dempsey ****d the **** out of Jess Willard to win the title in 1919...he was knocked out of the ring against Firpo in 1923...was out on his feet and came back to KO Firpo and keep his title...in his prime Dempsey was a killer...Tua?...talk about over rated!!!
If Demspey had to face a prime Lewis for the title, the hobo's head would still be orbiting the planet. If Tua only had to face an old ass farmhand who hadnt a real fight in 4 years, there would be a comet trailing a tail of hay. Dont give me this **** about who won a title.
regardless of how long Lewis Dempsey lasted, guaranteed Dempsey would make more of an effort than Tua did and unlike Tua, i don't see Dempsey running after Lewis and walking into a ringpost like an idiot.
