You can talk about who Lennox was beaten by and how but boxing history is filled with upset ko's and upset wins where the big dog was put down or stopped. But Lennox can claim that he beat every man that he faced in the ring. Not many can say that. If Archie Moore were fighting today and fought Durrelle on HBO some of you would probably have said that Moore had a glass jaw, lmao. Check boxing history. The fact that Lennox corrected those bumps in the road is ignored for some reason. I'm an American and I regard Lewis as a top 5 heavy. If you rank Wlad over Lewis, then tell me why Wlad didn't rematch Sanders and why you have Wlad ranked over Lennox. You can't. You have no logical argument.
One of the top 5 all-time heavyweights? Of course he is. You can make case for him being the very best so in my opinion the "top 5" is without any question. And as for those saying that he didn't beat any boxer "in the right time", it doesn't matter, they were pretty much running away from him until he became big enough not to be avoided. He defeated Holyfield, outclassed Tyson and knocked Bowe out. Lewis is the only one with the right to claim to be the winner of the "90s era". I believe that Wladimir is better than Lennox was. He fought the wider spectrum of different opponents over the years and his skills looked to be better. He has also a decade of domination which is in my opinion very difficult to pull out today. That's my opinion.
damn right its your opinion. aint no one elses that's 4 shu. personally i'd have lennox hovering just outside top 5. he had the tools to be top 3, but that lack of concentration let him down a bit too often.
I'd consider Toney, blown up middleweight, a second rate fighter in terms of him being a heavyweight.
Saying he knocked Bowe out isn't really accurate. He stopped him in the Olympics, which is quite a bit different.
Toney, even at HW, is far greater than McCall and Rahman. And unlike those palookas who destroyed Lewis, he didn't beat a prime Holyfield in the early rounds - he stopped a washed up one late. Big difference.
Lewis got stripped of every version of every title he ever held. He picked the WBC belt out of the dustbin not once but twice.
Well if people who sign contracts won't honor them why blame him? Bowe signed a contract to fight the winner of the Ruddock - Lewis fight and he reneged on it. Pretty black and white as to what happened, except perhaps for the mentally challenged.
You're entitled you have your own opinion on the matter. sIGNING a contract entering a 4 man elim contest had nothing to do with what would happen between Lewis, King and Newman. Negotiations for the fight told a different story. The real story. I already disputed beyond doubt in multiple threads. Im over it for the time being
So that means that Lewis would have beaten Bowe? The Pac fans/Mayweather haters swear that Floyd is ducking Pac yet most of them would admit that Mayweather would probably win if they fought.
We don't know who would have won because Bowe reneged on his signed commitment to fight the winner of the Ruddock - Lewis fight. But certainly Lewis made far more of an effort to make the fight happen than Bowe did. And consider this was the biggest opportunity out there #1 fighting #2 along with the Olympic revenge one would have thought Bowe would want to take this fight for the money alone, if not the opportunity to avenge his loss.
