Does that mean his fights will be on Showtime instead of HBO? www.instagram.com/p/kk1ExvB2cX/ Does this mean no Kovalev-Stevenson fight?
Epic DUCK Haha, no but seriously, this is good for him and bad for us. Although, I am a canadian so I am happy Adonis will make money and be safe from the Krusher.
Edwin Rodriguez also is with Al Haymon. Haymon fighters can fight on HBO, but Golden Boy fighters can't. In most cases, they're both. It doesn't apply here though Stevenson can still fight on HBO and has a 3 fight contract with them for 2014
This. Didn't know about the HBO contract, though. Some small part of me is wondering if this is an angle to get at Hopkins rather than Kovalev for unification...
I think Stevenson probably wants BHop and Kovalev. He is already like 36 or 37, probably just wants as many high dollar fights as he can get in as short a time frame as he can get them. More power to him. Not sure who wins between him and Kovalev, but I am certain I will be on the edge of my seat the entire fight.
haymon fighters have fought on HBO but now expect HBO's propoganda machine to hate on adonis at any given opportunity. Lara fought martisoiyan on HBO Rodriguez fought ward on HBO Arreola vs Stirvirne will be on HBO
Why the hell would he sign for Al Haymon? Haymon can do NOTHING for him at Light Heavyweight, he hasn't even got ties with the boxers around 168-175lbs who could bring Adonis money like BHops, Ward, Chavez jr and Kovalev. Stupid waste of money giving Haymon 20% of your purse for diddly.
Hopkins has no management ties with Haymon plus he's a Goldenboy fighter so no chance that fight takes places especially if Adonis is contracted to HBO. I could understand if Adonis was a Welterweight but it just makes no sense at Light Heavyweight where Haymon has no power or fighters of name value.
The one reason i prefer HBO over Showtime is because i don't have to see the Watson twins grinning like idiots in the ring, unfortunately it looks like i'll have to see them at least when it comes to Adonis...reason enough to see him KTFO soon.
Same thing with Edwin Rodriguez. Signs with Haymon and ends up having to pay him the extra money that Haymon nets him. Just a parasite on the sport. Guys sign Haymon thinking he'll get them that extra money, problem is so many guys are signed under Haymon that the effect gets canceled, in particular when two guys both under Al fight one another. This same **** went out when Don King was in his prime. Fighters would fall over one another to sign with King thinking he'd make them richer, all that happened was they just sign off a bigger chunk of their salary. HBO may think twice about investing into Stevenson now. His next fight was just a build up for the eventual Kovalev fight, but if that's going to look iffy, HBO will get strict on who they approve for his opponents.
LOL.. leave it to boxing. That is one epic DUCK if I've ever seen one. Want to avoid the dangerous Russian? Just head to daddy Haymon.
I'm giving Adonis the benefit of the doubt unless he signs with Golden Boy. I've got faith he'll fight Kovalev.
