"My ambition is to recapture a world title and bring it back to Australia," Geale stated in a press relase from Gary Shaw Productions that was sent out on Wednesday. "I will do whatever it takes to regain my status as the middleweight champion of the world. With Wood out of the way, the doors have opened for other big fights. I believe Gennady Golovkin and I would make for a great fight. If HBO can bring that fight to fruition then I'm all for it. Golovkin needs to fight someone of my caliber to be considered elite. The fans deserve a great competitive fight and that's what Golovkin and I bring to the table."

Geale was in the running to face Golovkin on April 26 in New York City, but the Australian star declined the HBO-televised bout because the network situation in his country did not support the fight at the time.

"I would have fought Golovkin already had there been a PPV date (in Australia), but there was none available," Geale stated in the press release. "My promoters Gary Shaw and Garrie Francisco believe this fight can happen and that's the direction I want to go. The same style I fought against Wood is what I anticipate would be successful against Golovkin. It would be a great fight for the fans." said Daniel Geale

I really hope GGG will fight Geale in the summer instead of Lee in spring / April. :bbb:bbb:good:yep

Geale has shown willing to take on good comp and travel when required.
Will Golovkin take this match up?

I remember when Geale was required to face the mandatory challenger to the WBA belt.

Three rounds. First GGG finds the range. Second GGG starts to introduce him to pain. Third GGG is giving an interview.

Now time to send his team to officially negotiate with GGG's team if he's serious.

I believe Geale is deluded. A complete fantasist.

The guff out of him in the post fight in ring interview after the Wood "fight" was unbelievable.
Going on about how his power is improving and how he has GGGs measure......:nut

Now he is saying Golovkin needs him to be considered elite....wtf? :think

The same "style" he used against wood will work against GGG....:patsch

Geale has no credibility at all...he just beat up a guy barely fit to hold a boxing licence and here he is guffing about taking on one of the worlds top boxers????
Golovkin or Sturm both beat him easily.

    Beam me up Scottie!

Ps is it true that wood was taken away for testing after the fight? Not for PEDs.....for a PULSE!!!!

    :lol::yep

Geale is all cheap talk when it comes about GGG. His handlers should call GGG's team and make a serious offer if they really want this fight.

I bet Sturm vs Geale II is their main target. A fight against GGG is the last thing Geale is wanting. :yep

Geale v GGG is one of the better fights that can be made. Would be by far the best opponent GGG gas had

This is a good fight. His Wood fight isnt being played off as a reason Geale is a top guy.. it was just a tune up. His career body of work is very solid. Hes one of the top 3 below titleholders on pretty much every legit ranking list, you cant write off people with his resume and hand them the "L" without having the fight.

He deserves his chance like every other ranked contender. After GGG stretches him out in the ring, then he can take his "L". :!:

I read that quote during the week then watched the actual fight later that night and couldn't stop laughing. Wood was atrocious, about any style involving throwing a punch would've beaten him. And for Geale to compare Garth's power to GGG is a bit much as well.

Little embarrassing if you ask me to call a guy out and say he needs you after you've turned down fighting him 3x now.

The one they call Golovkin starches both the Aussie convict and the cowardly German in the same night.

This is a good fight, Geale and Ward aren't scared of GGG, props to both of them.
Same cannot be said of Murray and co.

Was surprised to hear Geale say after beating Wood - that the same game plan would work against Golovkin. I would've thought the opposite would work against GGG. Geale should box him, he has quick feet and sharp hands, he could steal a UD if he boxed, that is why Ward is favored against GGG.

Geale's body would be slaughtered by 3G ! Don't see Geale hearing the final bell in this fight.
