was actually due to defend against froch, this is fact, and then he fled from the defence by dumping his titles.

Froch was a no name Calzaghe had bigger fish to fry and much bigger purses to collect. Calzaghe would have wiped the floor with Froch anyway

you mean he had faded fortysomethings to cash in on. you mean exactly that. and he still nearly lost to one of them, joe musta forgot one of them was still pretty good.

THEN WHY DIDNT HE FIGHT HIM IN A VERY LUCRATIVE FIGHT, if he would wipe the floor with him? He'd barely need to train for it, yeah? no.

prime froch might well have taken post prime joe, all things considered. That is why Joe didn't add the VERY LUCRATIVE froch fight to his forthcoming empty 2 fights in 2 years schedule. joe had NO reason not to add a third MASSIVE fight to those 2 years, especially since it was his mandatory anyway. EVERYONE can manage 3 fights in 2 years, even joe.

So why did joe run? Because as he said, he didn't want tough fights.

A fight with Froch would have probably made more money than the Jones farce of a fight, which was a total flop on PPV and didn't even do half of the numbers HBO were hoping for. I guess Calzaghe's calculating and opportunist matchmaking had run it's course and the Jones fight was a step to far, people were not stupid enough to pay for a fight that even Calzaghe himself said was pointless as Jones was so shot.

No one wanted to see an opportunist like Calzaghe cherry pick a shot guy who would have obliterated him in his prime.

Anyone claiming Froch would have beaten ANY version of Calzaghe DKSAB...

Froch did absolutely nothing for Joes legacy at that point tho

Let me get this straight, you think a fight with a then virtually unknown Carl Froch whos best win up until that point was Robin Reid would have made more money than RJJ. wow

The Jones fight was a total flop, a complete failure, hardly anyone watched it.

It was at the height of the recession and did around 250k if i remember correctly, not bad considering HBO's previous ppv Hopkins-Pavlik did quite a bit less

A Calzaghe-Froch ppv wouldnt have come close to those numbers

I would stop him in 3 rounds - Calzaghe on Froch fight .

If anyone is going to be on the canvas in 3 its going to be Joe himself .

It only took Roy and B hop just 1 rnd to do it themselves .

Wards career has many years left of it.

Schooled Kessler and Froch not clost schooled.
Gunna go down as a HOF no doubt

When Ward is through, he'll very likely be mentioned in the ATG list, a list where Calzaghe will never be mentioned.
Calzaghe barely beat Kessler. I saw the fight as almost even with Calzaghe having a slight edge.
Ward completely schooled Kessler and it wasn't like Kessler wasn't the same fighter after his fight with Calzaghe. Kessler didn't exactly take a beating at the hands of Calzage, so he was very close to the same Kessler that met Calzaghe.
