If you haven't a legacy you won't be remembered. Wlad never made an impact on boxing and he turned more people away than he brought in. Thats has never happened with a HW champ before. History won't be kind to Wlad. He's not even popular or relevant now. Why would he be years after he's retired.
There were idiots who said that Bowe turned ppl away from HW boxing....that Lewis was a china chinned nobody who wouldnt have won a fight between Foreman, Shavers, Ali, Norton, etc..... There will always be haterz in boxing. As soon as the Bert Sugars and Teddy Atlas's are dead and their opinions silenced, true BOXING EXPERTS will assert that Lewis and Wladimir are indeed ATG Champions and would have dominated every other era except the others, in which case the two woulda passed the belt back and forth a couple times. deal
He's just the super kingpin daddy of the heavyweight division, that's why the WBC title fight is so poorly regarded.
What i say is based on reality. There is something majorly wrong if the unified HW Champ and get regular gigs on major sports networks. What is a fact is they all dumped Wlad. What i say is true.
saying the networks turned their back on him is true, saying he never made an impact on boxing is not I don't know how you can hate on a guy who HAD to change the way he fought (post sanders) to get to the top
That means ****, besides that he is usually involved in 1sided fights that are easy to predict the outcome, thus less excitement, and that his style, not his skill level is not as crowd pleasing as other fighters. Combine that with the lack of opponents that actually bring in their own fan base to further grow the viewing audience and lack of top American heavyweights and you get your reason. Start getting some young contenders to make some noise and talk/ self promote, like Haye did and Fury is trying to do now, and they'll be fights that make it on TV. Wlad doesn't have the luxury of being able to move up or down a weight class and take on the next biggest attraction, like most the 140-155lbs do. He's stuck in 1 weight class. That's why HBO doesn't really want to show Rigondeaux fights anymore. Its not cause he sucks, its because of his style. The dude beat a consensus top10 P4P fighter after only his 11th bout. That's cause he sucks right. **** GGG is massively entertaining and on the rise building a massive fan base. Yet his last fight wasn't shown on HBO or in the States, but basically every other country aired it. Oh that's cause he sucks. How many times have you ever seen Roman Gonzalez fight on American TV?
Doesn't he have an Olympic medal, and 2nd or 3rd longest title reign of all time? One of the highest KO rates aswell, you could say history looks kindly on those things too. Also, boxers aren't often appreciated until they are retired and their career is looked at retrospectively
Wlad has beaten everyone put in front of him in this era. what more can the guy do really other than seek out the malik scotts, the deontey Wilders, fury and chisora to round off his career.
