its gonna be a belter of a fight ....groves schools him in skill but as the first fight shows carl can take his best shot...(just i agree) but i dont think groves can take carls ..... can groves land as good and clean a shot as he did in the first with froch walking on to it, or can groves avoid being tagged properly for 12 rounds?? who knows ..cant wait tho

 

After the 7th round GG was clearly weakening and that wasn't just down to his stamina but also from the shots that Froch was landing.

I honestly don't see GG putting on a better performance then he did in the 1st fight and yet he still lost it, you can claim an early stoppage but i honestly don't think he would have made it past the 10th round had he survived the 9th as he looked pretty much a spent force.

So lets say for the second fight, Froch put on a slightly better performance and has more early success and GG a slightly worse one with less early success...how is the result going to change to a GG victory in the rematch? i just don't see it.

As i said before, GG should have been advised to walk away from the rematch and come back to it a year from now when he had got a bit more World championship experience and maturity plus Froch would have been a year older too.

Good analysis mate, but unfortunately you cannot educate pork, so there will still be a few crowing on about how Groves simply has to turn up to win the rematch.
My view is that it will be a brutal fight, but i think we'll have the same result, albeit without the controversy of the first fight. I also think Groves could end up seriously damaged as he tries to man it out with Froch, instead of boxing sensibly and trying to win a decision.
Groves can improve many things, but he can't improve his stamina, his chin, and i very much doubt he'll change his machismo.
Its been said many times that Groves fought the fight of his life, and had lots of things go his way, yet still came up short (although the stoppage was bull****) so i don't see how he can change the outcome next time. Froch is unlikely to fight as badly, unless he ages overnight, and i don't see Groves getting off to such a great start, which lets be honest is why it took Froch so long to get into the fight.
Froch won't win the boxing contest, but he'll win the fight imo.
So i'm going with the same prediction as the first fight, Froch in 8

None of us can say for sure but I remember before the last fight everyone was saying Groves had just angered Froch and made him train harder than ever. Also Froch always seems to put the graft in to me, he isn't one who goes out getting bladdered. I think this is all excuses from him and his fans now, I mean who do you logicaly expect to look better next time, the 25 year old who had only had 19 pro bouts none at world title level or the 37 year old who's shipped a ton of punishment and took the vast majority in the last fight. Just seen a statement saying Groves can't improve his stamina either, yes he can. Froch has always been over rated, his best win was against a past it Kessler who a past it Calzaghe beat a prime version of, anyone who watched Bute vs. Pascal the other signature wins on his record aren't that great. He's had a great career because he's always fit and there was a tournament in the division that brought a lot of hype to everyone in it and allowed him to get good fights as well as more than his fair share of lady luck. If he is looking slower now I'd put it down to age and punishment catching up to him. My head's telling me to expect a big early KO from Groves this time.

People forget how good the first fight was because of the BS stoppage.

I agree, I don't think the rematch will be as good. I don't care what anyone says the amount of shots GG landed and and the way Carl took them must affect his confident. He will fight more conservative and try and box off the back foot.

But my gut feel is at some stage his head will go and it will end up in a war in the later round and GG will be hitting the deck

I've been following the sport for nearly 40 years, i don't remember anybody improving their stamina and/or chin overnight by changing their training routine.
Groves is big at the weight and its common knowledge he's drying out in the lead up to the fight, which is absolutely the WORST thing a fighter can do when trying to prepare themselves for endurance.
Losing weight in big chunks at the end of camp, and nervous energy are killers where endurance and evergy conservation are concerned.
As for suggesting Froch has been LUCKY, once or twice maybe, but at the level he's fought at you must be clutching at straws to find an excuse to discredit the man.
The overrated fighter will be Groves after Froch wins the rematch, Froch will be ridiculed again for needing two bites at the cherry to finish a prospect.

 

I don't think Froch took Groves lightly, that's just an excuse imo. Groves was just faster, hit hard and Froch has a poor defense. That's why Groves outboxed and hurt Froch at times in their 1st fight.
