Hatton as a promoter; How good is he?

Why not Geale? Why Ricky?

 

Can't be much worse than hatton as a boxer because his career in the ring was a farce and a padded record.

 

I think he got a bit too much criticism over Murray, he got him two world title shots, and a fight with GGG, Quillan, Fletcher and he rejected. I don't rate Hatton as a promoter but he did all he could with Murray imo.

 

How much did he get offered for these big fights though and what were the terms? If he turned them down they will have been poor he is a good fighter and doesn't seem to fear anyone there are obviously problems with hp he has never been one to turn down a fight. It's like when they said quigg left after turning down a 3 fight deal in America, they never stated on what terms or for what money. It's easy for these promoters to make a statement and make someone look bad

 

dont understand why he hasn't put shows on Boxnation since he is meant to have a deal with them.

There is two sides to every story, but according to Hatton they did offer Quigg a deal to fight in America on ESPN?

As for Murray apparently he turned down a fight against Golovkin and according to Golovkin's team it was worth £300,000.

Hatton was clearly trying with Murray as he even had him fighting on Hearns show's to keep him busy, but the choice is Murray's at the end of the day.

 

Yeh but what were the terms of quiggs deal. Fighters get fairly crap money in America until they are well established so unless your earning good money it would be a massive pain. Even if you stay based in the uk you still need to be over there weeks before your fight to beat the time difference etc so that means tons of expenses paying for the camp to be out there and if the money isn't right......as for Murray again you don't know the ins and outs of what he was offered so iits not fair to judge him. Crolla left, Browne wants out . There must be issues that aren't made public that we don't know about

 

Iv'e no idea and i can only imagine Quigg and Murray choose the best option for themselves.
BUT Quigg, Murray and Crolla etc, were happy to sign for Hatton when he was the man with tv, but now that he's not got tv...

 

Why would you stay with someone who had no tv he can't afford to put on shows so he palms people off with **** offers that's my point. And then when yo don't want to take his **** offers he tries to make them out to be scumbags. I remember when he first lost his tv deal and put crolla in prizefighter, what on earth was that about. I'm guessing it was the best he could come up with

 

Well my point was without tv Hattons hands were tied behind his back.
The thing is most promoters will struggle without the financial backing from tv.

As for Anthony Crolla, i can remember him being stopped by Derry Matthews just before Hatton lost his tv deal with Sky, so maybe Hatton putting Crolla on prizefighter was good for his career because he was at that level and it gave Crolla the chance to revive his career on tv and the chance to win a £32,000 winners cheque? That's not bad from Hatton if you ask me.

 

Wasn't really a career move though was it? More of a, I haven't really got any shows to put you on so get on here. If there wasn't such a demand for the Derry re match that could have finished crolla off. He rebuilt himself from there. Let's face it if a certain someone could control his behaviour, he wouldn't have lost his tv deal. Now he's paying the price. I would have jumped ship too. Look at what he did to munroe, he should have never left Maloney for hp

 

Fair enough, but it was still an option. As i said before there's always two sides to every story.

As for Munroe yeah he should have never have left Maloney and he learned that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, so more fighters should remember that before they jump ship because someone is blowing smoke up their arse with the promise of a few extra quid.
