"Notorious ducker" is a bit harsh.

He has clearly ducked Pac, and he would have been the favourite in that fight.

A small case could be made that he avoided Marg, whom he would almost certainly have embarrassed, even with Marg's concrete gloves.

His avoidance of the other great of his era, Pac, will haunt his legacy, but even without Pac, he'll rank pretty high.

A statement like this isn't unanimous either.

Adamek, Solis... Hell, the way people cite fighters that other fighters ducked, I could list every opponent Vitali fought that Wladimir didn't as a "duck." If I were like them, I could list most cruiserweight contenders during the era as fighters Wladimir "ducked." It's just stupid.

Shane said he needed a vacation to fix a tooth ache when questioned about Mayweather in 05-06.

When Cotto signed to fight Floyd in 2012, he admitted in an interview that he and his team declined an offer to fight Floyd in 2006 because "we weren't ready for him then. We are ready for him now." -Cotto

Didn't Shane have the toothache and didn't Miguel say he wasn't ready for Floyd yet ?

Think about what you just said .

If Floyd TRULY believed without a doubt that he can humiliate Margarito like you claim he would have , then wouldn't he have gladly taken that fight without any problems and proved it to all of us ??????

If one fighter knows he can humiliate the other he's going to go into the ring and do exactly that .

That did not happen , Floyd doubted himself and just gave us excuses after excuses even going as far to say that Margarito and him are not fighting to prove to the world who the best is which then made me question his intelligence .

You're mixing two things up here, PR.

First, I said that a small case could be made that Floyd avoided Pac.

Second I said, IMO, Floyd would have embarrassed Margo.

I didn't say FLOYD believed that.

    Shane speaks the truth :

Q: After you challenged him, a week later, Mayweather wished you good luck in your career which seemed to indicate he’s not interested in fighting you. He also mentioned that he challenged you twice, and he claims that you turned him down back in 1999 and again in 2006. Did you really turn him down?

A: Like I said, he’s really a liar. He likes to lie a lot. In 1999 there’s a film where he’s fighting in Michigan when he was fighting at 130 and I was fighting at 135, and I asked him, like when HBO does the prefight analysts talk to the fighters before they fight. I talked to him, and hopefully it’s recorded somewhere—I think it was on FX—I asked him, “Are you planning on coming up to lightweight to fight me?” And he said, “No,” He had no intention of coming to lightweight to fight me, he wanted t beat Carlos Monzon’s record. He didn’t want to come to lightweight. That’s when I jumped from lightweight to welterweight to fight Oscar De La Hoya. That was the first incident that he’s talking about, so he turned me down in 1999.

Now, the other time he’s talking about is when I fought three times—one, two, three, back-to-back-to-back—and they tried to rush me to fight him right away, like two or three months later. I said, give me a month, and we’ll do it like, I think it was in January—I said, “We’ll do it in January”. They wanted to do it in like November or December, and I said, “Give me a month and we’ll do it in January or February.” They didn’t want to do that. So they chose to fight Oscar De La Hoya. I said, “Go ahead and fight Oscar, and if you beat Oscar, then let’s get busy. Let’s do this.” He beat Oscar—he didn’t want to fight me.

He’s been turning me down. I hate when he continues to say, “Oh, he turned me down because of a tooth ache”. Yeah. I got head butted in that fight that and my tooth was loose that night. They asked me to fight Mayweather and I said, “Give me an extra month, and I’ll fight him.” He didn’t want to fight me, which was cool. He could go and fight Oscar because that’s more money. Okay. That’s cool, but after that fight if you win—fight me. He didn’t want to do that. He chose to retire or fight somebody else. I’m getting tired of that lie! They need to wipe that lie out of there. The reporters and stuff, they keep saying it, so that lie needs to be talked about.

No I'm not mixed up . Read what you wrote to me ^^

" A small case could be made that he avoided MARG "

Yes I'm aware that you was telling me in your opinion Floyd would have humiliated Marg .

I'm just tellin you floyd HIMSELF did not believed that . Because if that was the case Floyd would have gladly stepped into the ring with Marg and would've just beat the guy that everyone kept saying he was afraid of . Why else turn down 8 million for a fight you so confident you would win ??

    He doubted himself , that's why .

    Mayweather ducked Margarito .

Mayweather's game is predicted on distance. Long arms, very quick. Get in get out. He doesn't like to fight guys with a reach advantage. Maybe why he was fearful of Margarito.

I would say Mayweather. its close but Mayweather is still a p4p best at 37, top 5 defense ever, best + - ration in compubox histroy, 5 weight classes, lineal in 2 at the age of 37/38. its close but Mayweather is ranked higher.

    Question for everyone.

Is it a positive or negative for Pac's legacy that after 4 attempts he cant clearly beat JMM?

Someone brought this up on another board the other day.

Fight 1, Pac performs one of the biggest choke jobs in history by letting JMM back into the fight after scoring 3 KDs in the 1st round. Ends up a draw.

Fight 2 he wins a SD due to his edge in 10-8 rounds.

Fight 3 most fans feel he lost just like most fans feel he beat Bradley. At 147 no less.

    Fight 4 KO6. Again at 147.

We all know styles make fights, and JMM is a HOF himself. No shame in losing to him. But no one ever talks about him on an ATG level. Shouldnt Pac have proved he was at another level then JMM at some point?

    Your thoughts?

i think floyds constant downgrading in the media of pacquaios achievements are a big reason as to why hes not liked.

as for the jmm fights, it should hurt his legacy when comparing pacquaio to mayweather.

Other than *******s, I don't know of too many people including former fighter who has Pac higher than Floyd. *******s does not equal the consensus. FACT!
