He beat him right before he was beaten again...?

Still doesn't retroactively remove the lineal title from Alvarez's record after the Trout win.

The one thing would have nothing to do with the other. Styles make fights and not everyone is a KO artist. :?

We knew years ago that Alvarez might get knocked out eventually by a strong, aggressive, courageous, solid-bearded puncher who isn't smaller than him, as early was when Jose Cotto buzzed him if not before.

Angulo stopping him would mean absolutely nothing retroactively about Mayweather pitching a shutout over him (which, ignoring the cards, is what happened). That doesn't affect the credit given or vicariously lower Mayweather's stock. Likewise if Alvarez destroys Angulo, it doesn't raise Mayweather's stock or retroactively increase the credit he should get. Different styles match-up altogether. Unrelated.

Ehh. It doesnt mean much either way only time will judge Floyds greatness or lack their of. I dont think floyd will ever be considered the greatest of all time and he will never be considered the greatest ww ever either so this is all pointless. If canelo goes on to have lackluster career and turns out to be more fernando vargas then JCC then when floyds career is looked back upon itll be one less fight that people can point to and say there is the measure of his greatness. Thats the problem with floyd he just doesnt have that one fight against an in their prime elite fighter to hang his hat on. he couldve had that with manny in 2010 but he blew it. I think the best he can hope for now is to beat manny by utterly destroying him and then utterly destroying and dominating potential greats like Thurman and Garcia and maybe even Lara. If floyd can dominat those guys and they go on to have hall of fame careers itd be huge for floyd and his stock would rise as time goes on.

let me add this to put things in perspect on Floyd. Using another great welterweight in Felix trinidad who never lost at welterweight. lets take a prime trinidad and put him against the same fighters floyd has fought since 09`. Do you actually believe hatton, marquez, moseley, ortiz, guerrero, cotto and Canelo would have beat trinidad? heck no! those are all ko victories for Felix. Prime oscar? Those guys problably dont beat prime winky. lol!

    Partly agree.

Canelo getting stopped would not diminish the quality of Floyd's win.

However, when Canelo stops Angulo, as he probably will, Floyd's stock will rise.

BTW, Canelo took two or three rounds off Floyd.

Punk ass Floyd gets full credit. Alvarez was undefeated and seen as the best at 154. As already pointed out styles make fights.

No, I gave Floyd the eighth.

I just checked my card for that fight. I gave him 3 rounds too. 1, 11, 12.

And besides him being outclassed, I think Canelo would have had more success fighting to his strengths. I think his trainers were overconfident in his boxing ability. Wouldnt mind seeing him work with Nacho sometime in the near future.
