I wonder if Garcia and Maidana actually believe that Maidana can beat Floyd. They're obviously going to have to try to convince themselves that they can, but it seems inconceivable that Maidana really believes this is anything more than a payday fight

    Fair enough. :good

Also, whether or not a return is decent depends on the % gains, not the absolute $ amount of capital gains. That's the only way to have an apples to apples comparison of investor skill (or luck, depending on your perspective).

8.5% for no longer than my money is tied up is a pretty solid investment. The outcome of this fight is clear enough for it not to be treated like a typical boxing bet.

Khan has a better chance than Maidana. I laugh when I hear people say Maidana is a more difficult opponent for Floyd. The fight would consist of Floyd taking 1 or 2 seconds to figure Maidana out and then schooling him from there on.

Maidana is one of the technically worst boxers that people say is a top WW, even worse than Khan. Not accurate, not intelligent, not good in the areas of defense, footwork, adaptability or speed. His skill level is so poor that he lost to Khan and Alexander. He KO's some hype jobs and people go "Oh look at his punching power!" LOL! He couldn't KO Khan or Broner who have poor defense and weak chins.

The chances of Khan's speed beating or troubling Floyd is low but it's better than Maidana's puncher's chance.

Mayweather has not fought a top-level opponent in their prime since Marquez - which was an undersized man and a perfect matchup stylistically for Floyd. Mayweather is definitely not a top 35 p4p fighter all time. He's 45-0 whoop de doo it only took him 18 years including a one year vacation. Harry Greb meanwhile is fighting actual competition (with a few bums) going 45-0 in one year alone. He didn't make a whole career of fighting bums like Canelo Ortiz and Guerrero like padded record Mayweather. Joe Louis' 25 championship defenses in 11 years make up more than half of Floyd's career. Sam Langford was a lightweight fighting guys 30-40 pounds heavier than him and knocked out almost triple the amount of opponents that Floyd has even fought in his whole career. Yes every fighter in history have fought bums, but regardless the top 35 have accomplished much more than Mayweather. Mayweather is the dust upon which these people walk.

With the exception of Marquez, literally all of Floyd's wins come against the following 1) paper champions (Hernandez, Manfredy, Corrales, Baldomir, Judah, Gatti, Ortiz, Castillo)
    2) washed up fighters past their best (Oscar - who isn't any good in his prime in the first place, Cotto, Mosley)
    3) padded record fighters with hype jobs by the media with no actual substance (Hatton, Canelo, Corrals)
    4) overrated people on the p4p rankings (Corrales, Canelo, Hatton)
    5) Bums in general (Canelo, Ortiz, Guerrero, Corrales, Baldomir, Mitchell, Ndou, , Hatton, Pep, Juuko, Gerena, Vargas, Corley, Bruseles, Chavez, Sosa)

    Nice way of flipping it.

    Both fights are mismatches regardless.

Madiana has a title and is far more deserving than Khan...there would have been a bigger outcry of disgust if Khan got the fight, especially in America. The only people who are mad are Khan's UK fanboys.

Maidana will get taken apart. If Floyd's feeling generous, Maidana may sneak in winning 1-2 rounds. That's about it.

Believe me, I understand what you're saying. In reallity though, not many people who bet on sports would be willing to plunk down thousands of dollars and tie it up for months just to make a couple of hundred dollars. There are way too many better bets on there. For example, I don't know if you watch college basketball, but Wichita St.(an undefeated team who is ranked number 2 in the nation) is taking on Bradley tonight. Wichita St. already beat Bradley by 22 earlier this year and they are -900. I would plunk down money on that bet over the Mayweather fight any day of the week.

Maidana or Khan....neither fight is really any good so I really didn't care who he chose.

Both guys would MAYBE win a round or 2.
