Maidana is coming off a very good win but it was against, essentially, a relative lightweight hype-job who had zero gameplan and was more interested in showboating, dryhumping etc. I loved that fight but Maidana called Broner an elite defensive fighter, no way in hell he was that, if he thinks Broner was a good defensive fighter he is kidding himself.

His wins vs. Soto Karass and Lopez are ok, but imo both opponents were a) tailor made for him (come forward brawlers) and b) Over-rated (Lopez for beating tree Ortiz, Karass had 2 wins in his last 7 before the Maidana fight).

Before that he was schooled by Alexander of all people (Alexander has speed and some ring IQ). He was in the eyes of many beaten by shot Morales, and beaten by Khan (who he couldn't finish even when had him hurt bad in the last rounds).

Mayweather camp are already playing the dangerous, one-punch-ko angle, but Maidana isn't really a KO artist and his KO% is slightly deceptive. He is a high-quality brawler who usually comes out on top in brawls due to his heart, toughness and cumulative power vs guys with less than stellar defense. Stylistically he looks to be at a huge disadvantage to Mayweather, and its hard to see him doing anything that Mayweather won't be able to handle. Unless Mayweather gets injured, grows ancient overnight or gets clocked by a 1 in a million punch, Maidana has no chance in this fight.

True, but at least Khan is a boxer with a jab and movement...Floyd will most likely pitch a shut out against Maidana.

Khan might have gotten KO'd, but there was a chance he could have landed on Mayweather with his speed and at least made it interesting. In fairness to Khan has beaten guys of all styles: e.g. Judah, Malinaggi, Maidana himself, Kotelnik. Khan has never been outboxed.

Maidana's resume apart from Broner isn't all that great really. He lost a shutout to Alexander, lost to Khan and couldn't finish him even though he had him badly hurt. Shot Morales beat him in the eyes of many, his wins vs Lopez and Soto Karass are not all that good, and those guys were polar opposites to Floyd anyway. In no way shape or form does Maidana have a styles advantage over Floyd.

If you think I have a problem because I'm not proud of some multi millionaire stranger choosing a certain opponent then I fear it's you who has the problem.

Besides it was a Hobson's choice: do you want this **** fight or this **** fight? You can pick my opponent as long as its one of these **** fights....

Is Khan a much worse fighter, though? Styles do make fights.

Floyd is just not a man of his word .

He should have fought the winner of the poll .

Khan's boxing skills wouldn't trouble Mayweather. They're really overrated anyway, and even if he moves more, his footwork is poor.

    Both fights are mismatches.

    :deal

And as much as i liked seeing Marcos expose the hypejob, he's a pretty average fighter who will have little success against Floyd.

I agree Khan is the harder styles match up of the two.

I guess it all comes down to how you rate Broner and I think him to be the most overhyped fighter in recent memory. So this fight is pointless to me.

Khan is the much worse fighter than the guy he beat. Great logic
