Lewie is a nice lad, his younger brother Rocco trains with Leeds aswell. Tommy is a fighter, he called out Mitchell straight after the fight. As a fighter on that kind of high after a win like that you feel unbeatable. His interviews afterwards shows that he was spoken to by Jamie and his team. He then notably backtracked on Mitchell and that's is when he mentioned moving upto LLW as a possibility. For me this shows how good his team are and how game Tommy is whilst knowing that he has to listen to the guys behind him. Deep down Tommy thinks he beats Mitchell that's not in doubt but as I said before he respects Jamie and his opinion, what Jamie says goes as far as Tommy is concerned.
Fair enough I didn't realise he backtracked fair play to him, he looked really good against Derry Matthews I thought he has definetly got the potential and with his age he doesn't need to be rushed. Crazy to think he is a couple of years younger than luke Campbell.
The biggest problem for tommy coyle is the fact a non punching super featherweight put him over 4 times. He sud b know where near mitchell. I can see the selling point of coyle v woodhouse after the twitter banter but does coyle deserve a shot at the british title wen he has only ever beaten journeymen or blown up super featherweights. Wen he stepped up against a full blown lightweight he got stopped.
He was put over 4 times but 3 was to the body, you don't need to be heavy handed to drop someone with a well placed body shot. Once tagged in the body like he was if that same area is caught again flush a fighter will go down. Any fighter in the LW division would drop !
Not at all the kid was a small super featherweight with out a good ko ratio. Wen coyle fought matthews he boxed really well but got ko'd, then a hand picked small opponent drops him with body shots if he moves up to lww his going in with bigger lads and bigger punchers who know his weakness. Also wats he done to deserve a shot at lww british title.
Would be a huge fight in hull but I think tommy is well down the list of people deserving a crack at the British title, if I vacate there's loads before him that will get a shot, his only chance would be if I didn't retire and made a voluntary defence, he showed great courage sat night to keep getting up but the worry would be he kept getting put over by a non puncher, I think he should stay at 135 and maybe look at somebody other than Mitchell, that fight doesn't end well for tommy, tommy is a good fighter and still getting better, why rush him into a tough fight with Kevin?
Few Ifs there Curtis, you tempted at one last fight? Well done on saturday night too, what a great way to (possibly) go out!
Can I just say well done to you Curtis you should be extremely proud of yourself for what you have achieved in two sports which most people can't achieve in one. If you think you can get as motivated for the last fight as you can for other fights carry on but any less than retire and go out on a high, I agree with your point about Tommy, Kevin is leagues above its a big mismatch and Coyle has got time on his side to learn and improve without damaging his career to early I imagine Saturday took a lot out of him.
