Why is Burns not more well known in England

he's a 2 weight world champ, proven at world class, won about 9 or 10 world title fights. Surely he should be a bigger name in England, it seems the general public/ casual fans know all about him in Scotland, but in England he doesn't get the fame he deserves.YOu mention him to someone and they don't know who he is it's unbelievable.

His fights never get a mention on the news in England & he hardly gets any column inches, yet they mention losers like Amir Khan fighting in some non title fight against Molina/Diaz lol.

That's what wrng with the UK in boxing, celeb boxers - khan, audley, eubank jnr etc always get way more press/media than proper world champions like Burns. Our current World champs should be the ones with the biggest profiles.

He should be more well known. Not sure why, maybe because he doesn't act like a dickhead and draw lots of bad publicity. I'm under the impression that most casual fans seem to follow JW,WW,SMW and HW more than anything else. Might be wrong about that.

In regards to Khan, audley etc think it's due to some of the successful amateurs generally getting more exposure. The public weren't even really aware of froch for ages, haye only became known after he won the heavyweight title, boxing just isn't really a big mainstream sport anymore.

A couple of reasons I think

    1) The division he is in is sh*t
    2) He hasn't exactly got an engaging personility

not a a massive twitter user?, hasent ever really said anything disrespectful or even anything bordering on contreversial, shows alot of respect to his opponets, doesnt talk smack, in this day in age that kind of stuff wont get you much exposure

alot is also down to the media, at the end of the day if they chose to push him evan though he hasent gt a loud personality he would be known a heck of a lot more here, but i guess he wont sell them as many papers or get them them as many website hits

True, he got bronze at the world ams, but big difference between that and the hype boxers usually get after an Olympic gold. Everyone watches the Olympics, not everyone sees the world ams. You're right though it's all down to who the media decides to push.

A lot of Scottish folk don't know who he is, general sports fans I'm talking about. Obviously your average boxing fan will know who he is.

Although I did see a snippet of the back paper of one of the rags and it was about Crawford, I do think our media could give Ricky far greater exposure however.

The guy is a model professional, works hard, down to earth and plenty of time for fans he's EXACTLY what the national media should be bigging up. However they would rather portray the ones who end up in and out of jail, or act like complete wankers such is the end goal of selling papers.

Exactly this! that's what's wrong with the world we live in! We tell everyone to do all the good things but only report on all the bad things!

Eubank Jnr gets hardly any exposure

Khan and Audley were olympic medalists, so the general public were aware of them as soon as they turn professional

Are you trolling or just one of them dumb Scot's that don't know **** about boxing? Probably the latter.

Why would they know who he is? He lives IN Scotland. Losers like Amir Khan? You mean guys who go out and win Olympic medals for their country, go to America and beat some of the best fighters in the world to capture multiple world titles and are given significant exposure through terrestrial TV?

Proper world champions... :rofl You mean the guy who was getting his arse whooped by Gonzalez and got a robbery of a decision against Ray Beltran? He's not a 'proper world champion' and on Saturday, you'll see why.

Why do folk constantly talk about Gonzalez? Yes he was winning but he didnt win the race. It's a 12 round game if you cant KO your opponent. He couldnt last.

Man U won the Champions League against Bayern scoring two late goals, do you hear folk constantly say Bayern pumped them all game? No because who cares, Man U won fair and square.

It seems boxing anyway doesn't get the coverage it used to in the press (football,PL).

Title fights were back page headlines and the week of a fight mass coverage.

The actual boxing shows like ringside have not had him on the show enough either last week he was on but that was the first time in a long time.

For the personality side agree with you guys shame that you have to run your mouth 24/7 to get coverage but it has always been a part of boxing....not saying I agree with it!

    Lazarus aka tamwar listen boy.
''the truth hurts and people don't like the truth'' angel Garcia. This is the United Kingdom you doughnut medicne student nerd. Lol Khan's resume is **** he has never ever beat ''some of the best fighters in the world''   , Maidana/ kotelnik are average fighters and judah was completely past it. only a dumb biased pakkyboy who follows boxing based on race would think Khan has beaten great fighters haha. Khan hasnt been world champ in years, couldnt last long long at world level/ has the worst chin in boxing and too many flaws to mention/ and is even past it at 27 lol! his career is just one embarassment to the next in and out of the ring just like audley, the talking regarding the floyd fight being the latest lol, his career has been very similar to audley apart from frank wazza buying him a paper title. Going to America means nothing! when Russia, Ukraine, Cuba and the UK are producing the best fighters right now and the USA amateur system is producing no one. Burns is undefeated at world level, he doesnt get beat off bums like Peterson and Prescott, and he has has a solid chin , he hasn't been embarassingly knocked down about 15 times, which is why he has lasted at world title level unlike that bum Khan. I suggest you get behind Burns - you are british yet you root for the american, your just a racist nerd who follows boxing based on race. Yet your race can't fight to save your life so all of your opinions on here are 100% invalid Tamwar.

If Curtis Woodhouse was a pakkystani hed be the 2nd greatest pakkystani fighter ever, and the greatest pakkystani football player ever. say no more !!

dumb big nosed desperate khan fanboy weirdo, run along you may have missed a Khan tweet

    :deal

exactly it was a brilliant turn around to break his heart like that , that performance enhances Burns reputation, sign of a great sportsman to find a way to win when your having a bad night. Man Utd were masters of it.

this plumb Lazarus is british yet he hates all the best british fighters, yet is extremely sensitive about khan and has some very weird obsessio with him its not healthy, his whole sport of boxing revolves around him lol, sad racist loser.
