yes, he had more of a killer instinct than mayweather , but he was still a slick boxer.

Ray had everything, speed with his hands and feet, every punch in the book, ko power in both hands, endurance, strong chin, ring generalship and as you said killer instinct. Put him in with the best of any era and he was never boring.

No because Ray would also fight and that's a large reason why we watch boxing. Whether fighters realize it or not, they aren't just fighters, they are also in the entertainment business.

No. How many boring fights did he have from Ranzany to Fitch.

Very few of them were boring.

He would hands down be the most exciting fighters around today. Just think how rough Floyd would have it with someone being a bigger star AND callin him put for being a ***** and not fighting him or Manny.

If a prime Ray Leonard fought today would have taken on:

    1. Floyd Mayweather (KO in 10)
    2. Manny Pacquaio (KO in 10)
    3. Andre Ward (Close points)
    4. Sergio Martinez (Points or KO)
    5. Timothy Bradley (KO 8 or earlier)
    6. Gennady Golovkin (Points)

I think he beats all of these but, if you do not that is fine. The point is that he would have fought all of them, maybe more than once. Ray Leonard was nothing if not a brave warrior. That Sugar is the wrong name for him. Skilled Ray Leonard is more fitting. He was a workman that put all of the tools together and took on the biggest, most exciting, matches out there that help redefine boxing and the flavor of the 80. Mayweather is walking in those shoes but just like Leonard could not emulate Robinson in skill and resume, although he came close, Mayweather is not taking on the same challenges that make fans die for you.

Ray was never boring and never seen as boring .. one could only imagine how big he'd be backed by HBO's 24/7 marketing machine .. Mayweather drew more because of how he hits the mitts and his trash talk than any of his terrific but boring ring victories since moving to 147 ..

Boring ??? A speedy boxer/puncher who had good power too ! When he had an opponent in trouble he ALWAYS looked to close the show... How is that boring ? As for personality,he isn`t anywhere near as rude, obnoxious or arrogant like PBF,Broner etc...But,he was a good interview and always made for both pre-fight and post-fight banter... Plus unlike the aforementioned pretenders of today, he DID fight the best !!!

No,he definitely WOULD N'T be seen as boring. He never was. In the latter, post Hagler, part of his career he did cherry pick a bit but in his prime welter years he put his record on the line against a who's who of top fighters - Benitez,Duran,Hearns etc.

I don't think he'd be seen as boring at all. In fact he'd very likely bring out the best of some of the current stars and make for some exciting fights. He was a man who was a master boxer who could also punch, which is a rare combination. The other thing he'd bring to the table is a charismatic personality and one that has class unlike Floyd Mayweather who's Persona I find to be less than likeable..

Yeah, I didn't bother taking time to read the opening statement to the thread. But then again, I fail to do that even with a lot of them that are well composed and legit.

I think he would be a little more boring. He could make crazy money without having to fight the man in each division these days

Maybe, but this is the man who truly fought the best, in his short career... If it was today,I can`t see a prime SRL cherry-picking anyone... He`d fight and beat the best...
