I think you are over crediting Byrd by sticking with this "former MW" tag. He grew into the HW division at 23 years of age and had enjoyed 7 years in the division before challenging Vitali Klitschko. He was a 6 foot, 210 lb HW contender. It seems to me you are trying to put Byrd on the same pedestal as someone as Archie Moore, Sam Lanford, or Ezzard Charles and that don't sit right with me, buddy.
You seem to believe that Langford wasn't exceptional and this was for a HW title. Its the opposite - Langford was exceptional and it wasn't for the title. Its completely different, but an interesting fact all the same.
I don't class him as a normal MW, I class him as an exceptional one in terms of body frame and skill. You seem to be unhappy with me claiming he simply had exceptional skills as a MW, fair enough, but that's not my whole meaning. but I neither class him as the next Archie Moore, rest easy. He was just a well skilled guy who had the physical assets to move up weights easily enough. Hence why I term him exceptional as a former MW - its a minor get out clause for Vitali.
I don't believe anywhere in my post it says that Langford was not exceptional and the fight was for the HW title. But it should have been for the HW title, both these men were shut out from the title scene because of the color of their skin. It seems to me that you support this color line business and that you believe the WBO title wasn't anything but a trinket at the time.
You shouldn't class a 6'0 210 lb HW contender as a MW at all. That's quite unfair to the other MWs who only weigh 160 lbs. A 50 lb advantage? No kidding that is exceptional.
well I am just saying Vits got beat by a guy who was previously a MW,but there are strong exceptions to him having being another dude MW. Whats wrong with this?
That a 210 lb man is not an exceptional MW who just happens to weigh 50 lbs over the limit and fight HWs, he is a HW. Perhaps we should start saying Lennox Lewis is an exceptional CW, who just happened to weigh 50lbs over the CW limit and only fight HWs. Is this the avenue you want to go down? It will be quite lonely I assure you.
yeah sure when he fought Vits. I am not interested in pursuing any other avenue than the one I have mentioned, but thanks.
Speaking of winning, the brothers Klitschko keep doing that. What is it like ten years ago now since either of them lost?. Rofl I must say it's been incredibly amusing watching all you racists go through this decade long public nervous breakdown, Herol. Rofl And you didn't answer my question regarding which round it was that Louis tore his rotator cuff against that former lightweight whom he outweighed by over 30lbs and who had only been boxing for seven years? Rofl
absolutely not racist, I continue to state my respect for Vitalis image and longevity, repeatedly I make that point. You are in fact making the same point about his longevity as me - so you appear to be laughing at me AND yourself. And why are you thus calling yourself racist? the fight he won? I don't know when he tore it but it has no relevance to Vitali losing.
He was also a HW for 43 of his 47 career professional fights spanning his entire prime of 13 years. If he is exceptional, it is as a HW. Not even Electric Avenue?
