    Ken Norton.
Is the greatest p4p boxer of all time. Not just the greatest HW of all time. Best p4p all time. Let's look at his career and explain why.

Loss to Luis Garcia - early in his career doesnt count - and Norton avenged this with a KO anyway

vs Ali 1 - Ken Norton beat the supposedly greatest HW of all time - proving his superiority and showing that HE is the true greatest HW of all time. But remember, Ken is the best p4p, not just greatest HW

vs Ali 2 - Ali got a gift vs Norton just like he did against Young. So Norton is actually 2-0 against the second best HW ever

vs Foreman - lucky punch. doesnt count. Ken wasnt trying in this fight. And even when he wasnt trying George took some time before he finally landed - showing that Norton is vastly superior

Jerry Quarry - amazing win. Quarry was a good boxer and Ken crushed him

Luis Garcia 2 - he proved that the first KO was a fluke by knocking out Garcia. Foreman never rematch Norton after KOing him. Is it coincidence that the only man to KO Norton and rematch him got KOd? I think not. Foreman would have had the same happen to him if he was man enough to rematch the greatest boxer of all time

vs Ali 3 - Ken got robbed ONCE AGAIN. He apparently has the opposite of what Sven Ottke does when it comes to judges. So Ken Norton is 3-0 against the second best HW of all time

Jimmy Young - beat up Ali (robbed) and Foreman, and Ken made EASY work of him. Ken once again demonstrates his vast superiority over the rest. Where Ali and Foreman failed miserably, Ken made it a walk in the park

Larry Holmes - Ken got robbed AGAIN. Larry is one of the best HWs but Ken still beat him up. - showing Ken's p4p all time great number 1 status

Earnie Shavers - Ken said before the fight - Earnie has no skill and he knows his only chance is to try and bomb me out - Thats EXACTLY what Earnie did. Ken KNEW what was going to happen before it happened. He KNEW what Earnie was going to do - if he felt like trying he obviously would have destroyed Earnie. And Earnie never rematched Ken because he knew Ken would do to him what Ken did to Garcia

Scott Ledeux - another robbery that Ken easily won

Cooney - this was the last fight of Norton's career so he was way past it. Doesnt count. And Cooney was not man enough to rematch Norton because he knew every person that rematched Ken after KOing him got KOd. Ken just did to Cooney what he did to Earnie - he didnt try cuz he knew he was vastly superior. He just wanted to make boxing more interesting.

So vs Holmes, Young, Ali - three of the best HWs of all time - Ken displayed his vast superiority by going 5-0 with 3 robberies.

Vs Garcia - he let Garcia win to build up Garcia's rep out of kindness, and when Garcia became the only man to KO Norton and rematch him, Ken destroyed him

Earnie, Cooney, and George all knew this, so they never again rematched Ken. And they knew Ken got KOd on purpose just to make their careers more notable. If they did rematch Ken, he could have KOd them all on the same night like he did with Garcia.

The only reasons Ken got KOd was because - he was so good, he decided to build up other boxers' careers to help the sport grow. If he did 100% every fight no one would box anymore because they would be demotivated by Ken's greatness. Ken was considerate. There is no boxer in history with that kind of quality - intentionally losing to make other boxers' careers impressive in addition to his own.

foreman shavers cooney all never rematched him - because they knew what happened to the last guy that rematched him after KOing Norton. They knew Ken was letting them win on purpose and they stood no chance against a 100% effort norton.

And i know people are going to say oh such and such is better p4p so im going to explain why they are not
Sugar ray rob - fought all tomato cans and still lost to Jake Lamotta despite putting in 100% effort. Ken NEVER lost when he had 100% effort. Also, Ray beat the second best guy Henry Armstrong only ONCE when he was past his prime. Ken beat the second best guy Ali THREE times. That's triple the greatness of sugar ray robinson. And since every other boxer besides Ken Norton is not better than Ray Rob, that means by A>B>C that Ken Norton is the greatest ever. END OF DISCUSSION

I dare anyone to try and prove me wrong.

    :lol::lol:

    1. Young lumped in with Holmes & Ali as the best heavies of all time? :rofl (very good, mind you - probably underrated, in fact - but not up there with them, no...even with him maybe being unlucky with Ali...styles make fights...and that was post-Manila)
    2. Norton robbed against Holmes? :rofl
    3. You can make the case for 3-0 with Ali, sure, but again - styles make fights. Edging a series with Ali (and all three were close enough to be argued either way) doesn't necessarily put him above Ali. Saddler went 3-1 (3) over Pep, but Pep still rates above him on just about every greatest feathers list ever made.

...and excusing stumbles like the draw with LeDoux. :-( Norton himself doesn't think he got robbed and wishes he could have a do-over for that night, and with the knockdowns you can't really mount a case that he was.

...and "early in his career, didn't count" for the KO loss to Garcia - who as of then had less experience than Norton himself? :yep

I LOVE Ken Norton, and he IS one of the greats, but the best No!

I'd pick a good few before Norton, and not just from his time, but the likes of Jersey Joe & Charles for starts.
