Latest ramblings from Stevenson; via FB

Answer to Sergey “weak chin” Kovalev:

(Keep in mind that this was written by a 36 year old man)

It seems to me like he's scared. This is the biggest fight at LHW, HBO would love to make this, so both guys would be getting a shitload of money. I don't understand why Stevenson is saying that he doesn't fight for free... Like there is no money to be made vs Kovalev:patsch

And the whole "weak chin" thing:blood Kovalev got dropped by Boone. Stevenson got KO'd in 2...

Now, I'm not hating on Stevenson. I really like him as a fighter, and I've rooted for him for a while. But this whole situation is just putting him in a bad light.

Yes you are, nothing he said would suggest that he's scared. This is like the Garcia vs. Matthyssee nonsense where everything Garcia said, did, or didn't say was somehow an indication that he was deathly afraid of Matthyssee. Stevenson and Kovalev will be fighting each other this year. All signs point to that happening. For now, let them bash eachother through Facebook.

I bet when HBO sets the fight up he'll lock himself in a Tim Hortons bathroom stall & wont come out.

sounds to me like ppl in both camps(not kovalev or stevenson) is taking **** in the social media....to me it looks like nothing more that **** talking to sell a ppv fight...

how much you wanna bet this fight goes PPV? and not just in canada this time either....the promoters know this is the fight most boxing fans want to see....now they just gotta real in the general public with some **** talking and then you got enough interest to make this a world wide ppv....

Yeah nothing. Talking about Kovalev's purses, calling him weak chinned, feeling compelled to type out angry essays and mentioning that "he doesn't fight for free", despite that this fight would be his biggest payday.

Absolutely nothing suggests that he's scared or ducking.

I'm glad he's talking the fight up. He ain't scared, he's greasing the skids for a media build-up. Stevenson's fan base had no fukkin clue who Kovalev was before he came to Montreal, and Stevenson is yapping away about Kovalev so that the demand for that fight in QC increases. Stevenson wants a gate of 15-20K for that fight... ask the casuals in QC about "Kovalev", and they'll ask you right back "Alex Kovalev is boxing now?".

Maybe after Agnew, Kovalev can get his own card in June/July against Dawson/Cloud?

Those are Stevenson's leftovers, Brahemer would be nice but i doubt HBO would have him (being unknown in the US) as a main event opponent.

Stevenson is scared, but granted, he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer either.
Still, he has a point about purses and the value of fighting specific opponents. In today's ultra commercialized market, not one wants to be short changed, especially if they are at the tail end of their careers and still awaiting the big check.

There are some fighters that know how to talk ****...then there are the rest...

If you are going to talk ****. Do it well & back it up (Ali, Paulie?)

If you can't do that then don't do it at all. Maybe be a Maidana or Matthysse type character don't try so hard and be content with your ability.

he barely speaks english . . . he is francophone:patsch

A lot of times french people in Canada get things mixed up when they write/speak in english.

Well, I do agree with your point... So how much was Stevenson making three years ago per fight? 50 bucks?

You are right about the career too - Adonis ain't got eons left, but he's not retiring next year either. He's got probably at least three years left. And the fight with Kovalev has PPV written all over it! Hell, I am buying it! If they set it now for later this year - there will be even more hype and more money! Don't forget the rematch too...
