I hate when I see "analysts" on ESPN criticizing performances from atheltes. Calling performances lazy, calling people terrible, assassinating characters. As if they can do it better.

Anyone can be the guy to give their opinion on a finished piece of work. A 5 year old can give their opinion on something.

Anyone can be that guy, but not everyone can be the guy who puts the hours in the gym, working on his skills, working on his jumpshot, working on his jab. Not everyone can be the guy in the recording studio, juggling ideas, putting in the creative energy.

I don't think that's valid. Objectively you can criticize a performance if it's well reasoned and well informed. If you know the facts and can analyze the situation there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to cast an opinion disparaging or in praise of.
