I watched last nights fight in pure frustration. Firstly I would like to say well done to Crawford but having seen him fight last night live for the first time it made me think all the way through that Crawford isn't actually that good, yes he is skilful but his defence was not that good I don't think he would beat Vasquez if they fought. Now on to burns I am a huge burns fan but lets face the facts now maybe I was deluded thinking he over trained for Gonzalez that's why he looked poor and the beltran fight was because of the injury now my thoughts are burns is unfortunately past his best because all the way through the fight I was thinking burns of 3 or 4 years ago would of destroyed Crawford but the work rate was not there last night and I thought ricky looked slow I think all the wars he has been in have caught up with him which is a shame because Crawford was there for the taking and the best burns of a few years ago would of won handily. Ricky as always tried his best and I wish him all the success in the future but im truly gutted as that was not the ricky burns last night that we all know. Since joining his new promoter something has changed.
I don't know whether a change of promoters will have made any difference,everything else is the same.Dont agree that Crawford not that good.Pure class and seemed to box within himself.Said it was all about the winning and thats what it looked like.But I think you may be right about everything else.A terrific amount of fights at top level for Burns.That combined with getting a bit older can make a difference,plus other things like the jaw.Showed his usual cojones in this,some would have given up.Great sportsman,fighting champion who would have had a great career if he finished now.Regarding Crawford,probably somebody out there to beat him but not easy for anybody.
Funny how people never say that about Amir Khan who's operated at a much higher level than Burns. You would never see any of these soppy ass threads made about Khan, would you? Burns was simply not good enough, his last couple of fights highlighted that and the Crawford fight made it reality. Saying that the Beltran fight made it reality too.
Strangely enough mate,I have said it about Khan.Said I thought he had gone backwards in his last fight.Seems to happen a lot more in the smaller weights.Classic example for me was Howard Winstone.
Plus I agree he wasn't good enough for Crawford,who may yet prove to be as good as some of Khans opponents.We don't know yet.But as I say,somebody will beat him.Its inevitable.
Can't have it both ways lads, Crawford's rather the goods and better than anything Burns fought under ****** or he isn't. I think he is, which is why I said the competition got better. Even Beltran looked better against Burns than anyone he fought under ******.
