Ricky Burns vs winner of Crolla and Murray

Abril and Figueroa would be easy fights to make coz neither are marketable in the states, both hold WBA and WBC titles and I feel there would easily be 11,000 at the hydro for Eithier of those two.
Shafikov's name hasn't even been mentioned David,think he'd need to rebuild at euro level again, there's a big diffrence from earning a title shot and winning it

 

Well if Ricky's next fight isn't a "world" title fight surely any fight will be a step backwards. It will be interesting to see if it is against someone above their "level".

 

Seriously Billy and with respect, wouldn't you consider a fight with a British lad if it was a good payday. Surely Ricky could do with a nice warm up fight before he moves back into the "title" scene again?

With respect to the domestic fighters, with the exception of Kevin ( who Ricky has beaten) at present I'd think Ricky may find it hard to motivate himself for any of them

 

again you don't hold a title for 3 1/2 years get beat then drop down many levels do you?

 

IMO anything less than a title shot is a massive step down and would be out of order

 

Does he deserve an immediate title shot (other than perhaps a rematch) though billy? Obviously you will stick up for your fighter but he has been poor in his last few fights now, are they the type of performances that you would say entitle him to it?

I like Burns and hope he gets one, if he was my fighter I would have him in a confidence builder first but I am sure his team know best!

Of course it will be a step backwards (As Billy has said) for Ricky at this point because what you have to remember is Ricky has been world champion in two divisions where he's had 10 title defences over the last 3 years, so he is more than entitled to any of the four "world titlists".

It would be different if Ricky was some flash in the pan champion where he lost his title after one defence. Then you wouldn't have a problem with him stepping back down to domeatic level, But he isn't.....

As for Crolla he hasn't proved he is the best at domestic level yet never mind world level. Murray has, but he was beating at world then world fringe level and i think the winner of Crolla-Murray would need to beat a top 15 guy after "their" fight to earn a crack at Burns, but that's just IMO.
