Out of these legendary fights of 1982 which would you say was the most thrilling in your opinion? Which had more violence and drama and had you on the edge of your seat throughout? It's funny how these fights took place by the end of '82 and they weren't too far from each other when they happened. In fact, Gomez/Pintor took place a week before Chacon/Limon IV.

I have to go with Pintor-Gomez and then Limon-Chacon IV.
3 amazing figths anyway, and another great choice would be Boza-Edwards vs Chacon II.

Hard to go wrong no matter which you choose. 1982 was a great year.

For me, it's Chacon-Limon all the way; that fight will probably always be my favorite. It's a story about human will and courage as much as it is about boxing, and that just makes superb storytelling.

Gomez-Pintor next, I guess. Terrific slugfest, though Gomez seemed to have a handle on things on the cards. The only real question was whether his face would fall off before the final bell, which would have complicated matters.

Pryor-Arguello was a very good fight, but too one-sided to be in the mix with the others. I know, I know..........others see it as the absolute pinnacle of the decade, but I'll never understand that. Pryor outlanded Arguello three or four to one. Pretty lopsisded scorecard to me.

I know that Chacon-Limon IV just beat out Pryor-Arguello I for 1982's best fight of the year, with Aarron Pryor winning best fighter of the year hands down, but when you put all three of the aftermentioned fights you have listed together :smokehell man they were all great fights!

Couldn't say it any better! Maybe Gomez and Pintor wasn't quite as intense as the other two but who wouldn't have paid high dollar to be ringside at any of them. All three were live on WWS at the time, man did we have it better as viewers then.

I hope that was sarcasm, because that fight is not even CLOSE to any of the listed fights.

But for me Chacon vs Limon IV is among the absolute pinnacle of great fights. That fight is inhuman, and both Chacon and Limon reached inhuman levels of endurance and will to do what they did. My personal favorite fight.

Pryor vs Arguello I comes in 2nd, great fight and an important fight in the fight game, Arguello going for his 4th world title and Pryor finally getting his big name fight.

And then Gomez vs Pintor 3rd. Great great fight, but not quite as great as the previous two.

Chacon vs Limon IV, takes it, barely, over the other two.

All these fight occurred within a 30 day span. Ah the early 80s. I think the best of these is the one rarely talked about - Pintor-Gomez. These little guys battled nonstop for 14 rounds and combined skill and a fantastic punch output. Limon-Chacon was fought with the same drama, but with less skill. Pryor-Arguello was the most significant.

Chacon-Limon Iv is my favourite of the three, followed by Pryor-Arguello I and then Gomez-Pintor. They're all great fights though, and you can't really go wrong no matter what order you pick them in.

1982 started out as a bust but finished strong with bouts Braxton Davis, Fletcher Green (a dream matchup for me). upsets of Alex Ramos & Greg Page, the retirement of Leonard (a waste of time), the knockout of Obel. Then the Arguello-Pryor fight with it's spectacular but unexpected finish. the next day it was Mancini & Kim. Hard to believe two humans could endure that much punishment at that pace

the following month we had Pintor & Gomez & Chacon-limon which was a continuation of their rivalry from the 70s

I have Pryor Arguello edging out the others becuz of the level of fighter Arguello was at the time. What a shock to see him pushed to his limits of endurance and beyond. This fight was surely better than Duran Leonard 1 with all of it's holding & grappling. far more clean shots, and more fiercely fought. Second only to the great firestorm of Hagler Hearns

I think 1982 was good from the very beginning. Navaratte-Choi. Duran-Benitez. Pedroza-LaPorte, Mancini-Valdes, Verderosa-Valdez, Fletcher-Braxton 3, Sibson-Davison, Hamsho-Parker 2, Verderosa-Boza. Green-Scypion (RIP). Then in May, Mancini-Frias, Arguello-Ganigan, Navarette-Limon. Boza-Elizondo, Holmes-****ey and the entire card, Fletcher-Jackson, an underrated but great fight in Cruz-Palma 2. Moore vs. Mihara and Kalule, Pintor-Lee (pintor knkd down), Carter-Chandler, the great Sanders-Ramos upset (which I would pay good money for along w/ Limon-Baltazar from 1980 and Cobb-Mercado from 81). Braxton-Saad 2 and his distruction of Martin. Sanchez-Nelson, Pryor-Akio, Arguello decapitating Rooney. Pintor-Lujan, Limon-Choi Spinks-Burnett, the Animal vs. the Hard Rock. The same day, the Pedroza-Taylor trackmeet where I had Ped winning 13 rds as Taylor looked like the flash. The second great Duva disaster where Hamsho whooped Czyz EASILY. the Holmes-Cobb spongefest and yelling to the ref, "You're white, do something". And the great Pryor-Arguello, Mancini-Kim which was unbeleiveably violent and beuatiful. Then it all goes up a notch w Gomez vs. Pintor. The best i saw that year, until one week later when Bazooka and Bobby Chacon forught what for me was the greatest fight I have EVER seen then or now. And throw in one day earlier the Weaver-Dokes debacle. Simply the best year I ever lived thru in boxing. Always special for me.
