why dont certain boxing stances have more names?

    the only stance i can think of that really has a name is the philly shell ? am i mising something here, are there names for certain styles ?

    Peek a boo, conventional, Mummy, textbook, Wild, unorthodox...ton of styles have names, but every fighter is detailed so they can do more than one at the same time....the peekaboo and mummy go hand in hand

    The George foreman!! Those horizontal arms covering the face. Who started that? Was it popular? Didn't smokin joe do something similar?

    That's the cross arm guard, Archie Moore taught him to do that though I'm sure other boxers before Moore used it as well.

    It seems like such a stupid thing to use but we have seen fighters use it successfully.

    This thread isn't about stances as there's only 2 stances as golden boy already said - orthodox and southpaw.

    It's about GUARDS.

    Those are the only 2 stances that I know.
