    Mijares is jabbing out into the guard of Santa Cruz and then fading right with quick steps. Santa Cruz jabs high with the left and tosses in a big pendulous right uppercut on the body. Mijares is moving away from Santa Cruz's power hand but still getting caught with those long body uppercuts after blocking and wiping the jab.

    Good rnd for Cruz. Scored rnd 1 for Cruz. But I think Mijares got Cruz's attention and maybe a little respect toward the end of rnd.

    Mijares is hanging at medium-long range, hoeing in the right jab. Jabs and uppercut combos by Santa Cruz pressing in. Mijares counters with a left uppercut planted flat on the bottom of Santa Cruz's chin, slowing him only momentarily. Santa Cruz is advancing with left hooks up top and right hands on the body. Mijares is caught on the ropes, taking a straight right as he leans back into them. Mijares parries a few left jabs with his right cranked out in a rowing motion. Santa Cruz is raising his arms vertically and sitting his weight back as Mijares anchors and throws a deterrent left hand lead.
