****ing James Toney did the exact same thing against the same fighter not long after FFS, and don't even mention the ****ing roids argument with Toney, when we are talking about Roid Jones of all people. How many heavyweight champions have been beat by two former middleweights, answer one... John Ruiz, see we can all play the numbers game.

On paper it was a challenge, the reality of it is they were extremely lucky to have some dodgy belt holder who pretty much ticked all the boxes when it came to all round mediocrity.

If John Ruiz was heavyweight world champ today, I'd put money on it people like Hopkins, Dawson, Bellew, Stevenson etc would be eyeing up having a crack at him, replace Ruiz with Lennox Lewis or a Wlad Klits and watch them all think... erm narrrr, think I'll pass on that one.

The only time when Hopkins has considered it and spoke about trying it is when a similar skill levelled fighter to Ruiz ended up holding a title in Oleg Maskaev. Soon as he lost to Peter, Hopkins scrapped the idea.

So while it sounds good on paper, it was nothing more than a sparring session against a much slower and lot less skillful fighter.

So what If Toney did it two years later?

Toney deserves credit for what he did at HW.

Toney and Roy weren't your average MW's, they were two execeptional fighters.

I see you can't answer the question, how many more fighters, have even attempted what they did?

Plus you have to factor into the argument that Toney was so out of shape he had to fight at HW, although like I say, he still deserves credit.

Why didn't other LHW's in 2003 and 2005 go up and challenge Ruiz?

You've got to be crazy if you think all those fighters you listed would fight Ruiz if he was at HW today.

Bellew? He hasn't even fought at CW yet. Neither has Stevenson. Hopkins?

It was nothing more than a sparring session, because of how gifted Roy was. But he still deserves credit for taking the fight at that stage of his career.

If it was as easy as you claim, more people in history would have attempted it. The numbers don't work in your favour.

    You're obviously a hater.

Did Jones fight any HOFers in his prime? James Toney? Antonio Tarver?

I don't think Tarver will make it to the hof after he retires. So Toney is the only prime hofer Jones fought

I would not class either of them as unbeatable. I thought Floyd lost the first Castillo fight. Jones should of been behind on the cards after he lost by dq to Griffin. He also looked less than amazing against Harding.

I never said unbeatable, but think P4P, Mayweather would be the tougher to beat of the 2. He just seems to be able to adapt, whether its pressure, speed, rough house fights. Whatever there is, he has found a way

Floyd hasn't really fought anybody who's great at what they do, certainly not in their prime anyway. Floyd is very beatable he's just not fighting in an era with the quality of fighter to do it.

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

There hasn't been a Ruiz around to handpick for one. You expect the Light Heavyweights to move up and fight a Wlad or Vitali? :rofl

You aren't comparing apples to apples as usual. Jones wouldn't move up and fight the Klitschko's either. Ruiz was a handpicked opponent. Nothing more. He was awful. That is why Jones fought him. There was no other reason.

So quit asking "How many guys have done it since" when they would be facing a 6'6" 250 pound guy with skills and savage power not Johnny Ruiz :patsch

Oh stfu already ! Jones tried to get Holyfield and even made attempts to fight. Lewis and Tyson ..You always seem to over look this everytime you respond ..And if it was so easy why has no one done it since ? Funny how boxing works ,you get guys like Floyd who hand picks guys like. Maidana but because he has a belt that becomes another young champion he beat ,when Roy beat Ruiz for the WBA belt he was a hand picked bum .

Boxing fans are too much

Rico, oh how I've missed your amazing knowledge.

Do you think if Ruiz was the champ today, that all of the current LHW's would be falling over themselves trying to fight him?

    Just like in 2003 right?

Did Roy in 2003, have to push himself to the front of the queue?

    Answer the question.

Would there be a big queue of LHW's trying to fight John Ruiz, if he was the champ today?

Because there was no queue in 2003. :good

It's easy for you to sit there and claim it as a nothing win.
