Is it possible for promoters to pay other boxers to lose?

    If they have a boxer who they are building up to be the next BIG thing in boxing, can they pay the other opponent who is under their promotion company to lose?

    No, that's against the rules and will get you thrown in jail if caught.

    of course its possible but the gravy train must end at one point, why not just keep putting your cash cow in with bums to build them up ?

    Well anything is possible in boxing, even with the Pacquiao-Bradley fight.... that was a robbery but the judges were probably aware of it.

    Bradley was an undefeated American boxer and Pacquiao's contract may not be extended so there might be something fishy going on behind the scenes that we may all not know about

    And Pac-Hatton.

    There's actually videographic evidence that shows that Ricky knew exactly what punch he was supposed to lay down on, and that Mayweather Sr. and Ricky practiced this one move continually in training. They even had a name for it, though I forget now what it was.

    Fights certainly get fixed. Judges and refs have shown us time and again that there had to be some exchange of money or something else to get them to behave the way they did. What bugs me is people saying fights that are obviously not fixed must have been fixed. Last weekend is an example.

    Going into the fight most thought is was a mismatch to up Canelo's stock. When the most likely outcome of an event occurs I am hard pressed to think it was fixed. That being said there are always reasons that almost everyone is unaware of. I will never say that it is impossible that some nefarious behavior is going on behind the scenes of a fight promotion, but it seems like it is an easy excuse to go to when the result is not want you wanted
