Seems more than ever now when fighters lose high profile fights the old i killed myself to make the weight or its time to move up etc !!!

Should fighters concentrate more on stamina and stregnth and fight at a natural weight rather than drain and dehydrate themselves which also endangers the body ???

More and more nowadays guys seem to be absolutley killing themselves to make weight , ive tried a few remodys myself in the past to see the effects ie: epsom bath salts and albolene under the sweat suit etc and to say they knock fcuk out you is an understatement !!

The strange thing is it's seen as an advantage to drain themselves as much as possible so theyre technically fighting smaller guys than them, then as soon as they take an L it was suddenly actually a disadvantage.

Google it mate and read up on it , epsom salts you take in a roasting hot bath sit for 20mins and when you come out its like youve been in a steam room the water pishes out you , when i tried it i weighed before and after i droped just under 2kg , Albolene is a clear cream you put on areas of higher bodyfat mate ie Abs etc and it draws out excess water weight , yank boxers have been using it for years

That excuse is more popular now because I think fighting at the 'wrong' weight is far more popular no aswell. Nowadays Eubank and Benn would be far too small at Super Middleweight, especially when you have guys like Chavez Jr campaigning at middleweight till recently. Guys like Prince Aron down at light middleweight the guy is 6'3".. I think you'd have see things like this a lot less back then. I don't think a Mike Tyson Mk II would be thrown straight in at heavyweight maybe Light Heavyweight or Cruiserweight, Alvarez campaigns at 154 but on report said he weighed 178 on fight night wether true or not I'm sure it's not far off the mark the guy is a tank at that weight, it's part and parcel of mordern boxing and if fighters are going to risk there health and a loss just to drop sometimes that extra 3 pounds then they should pay the consequence. And if they feel they can't make the weight well enough that should be decided before they step into the ring not after a loss to a better man at the weight. And though I do belive some fighters definitely require a step up in weight, I don't think it's an excuse and a fight shouldn't be taken if you honestly can't make the weight well enough.

It depends what is agreed on. What is popular now in most big fights that there seems to be a clear advantage is a next morning weigh in where both fighters agree on a secondary weight that they both have to be under but this is still a good 12-15 hours from the fight and a good 7 pounds more than what they weighed just 12 hours ago. It does stop it a bit but there are still ways round these things
