Before the fight, there was a good amount of people who said Broner would duck Maidana.

Not this guy, I am proud to say...

I was really stunned that the typical Broner haters were picking him to win decisively. Just goes to prove that they were setting up their agenda before the fight and also perhaps that they hadn't watched either fighter before. Also I think it's fair to say that nearly EVERYONE mis-gauged what Maidana brought to the table.

Oscar De La Hoya cherripicked Shane Mosley (because he was too small) and Pac (because he was "too small").

Tyson cherrypicked Evander Holyfield (cause he was supposedly shot to ****).

    Holmes-Spinks I.

Michael had no intentions of ever moving up to heavyweight until King offered him 11X his going salary for LHW title defenses to move up and challenge Larry. Spinks was given no warm-up fight to acclimate to the weight and had three and a half months to make the move up.

The end result? Spinks overcomes a 20+ pound weight disadvantage and upsets Holmes, a 6-1 favorite, to become the only reigning light heavyweight champion to ever capture the lineal heavyweight championship, spoiling Holmes' bid to tie Marciano's 49-0 mark in the process.

Never before has one cherry pick gone wrong carried that kind of historic weight.

Actually the 3rd Marquez fight was an outright cherrypick by Pacquiao.
Pacquiao had climbed weight divisions and waited 3 and a half years for Marquez to get old.

Here you had a man in Marquez who the consensus thoughtwice bested Pacquiao in those first two fights, but yet so cherrypicked was Marquez that Pacquiao's whole team in the leadup to the 3rd fight were voicing little respect for Marquez as both Roach and Ariza were debating which of the early rounds Manny would take Marquez out in.

"Manny is a totally different fighter from what Marquez has seen." -Ariza
"Even God himself cant help Marquez against Manny!"- Ariza

"I've instructed Manny, for me, no Mercy on this guy, I want to shup him up once and for all!"

Then reality sets very early in fight 3 and the uneasyness in which Roach saw and gave Manny advice between rounds was a site to behold as they knew within the first few rounds they were witnessing and about to witness the conclusion of a master boxer exhibiting his craft and applying so clear a lesson nobody but the dishonest folks at HBO could mistake it for anything else.

Checkout how Freddie Roach begins his post fight Marquez-Pacquiao 3 post fight news conference.
Pretty much gives it away that they know they lost the way he embarrasingly thows in arm up slightly with a sheepish grin on his face ans asks, "any questions?"....as the whole press explodes in laughther.
