https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GASTLfmHnUc I'm watching this interview with Mike Tyson, and at around 8:00 Mike answers a question about how his career would have turned out had Cus not died and Mike mentions how Cus had a lot of enemies and was exiled from boxing and people mocked him and called him a weirdo but then trails off and doesn't explain what he means. What's the story here? Also, I find Cus to be one of the most interesting people in boxing. I'm always amazed by his level of insight into the psychology of fighting and sports in general. Does anyone know any good sources to learn more about him?
He was paranoid. I'm not sure he was that exiled. He had Kevin Rooney fighting out of his gym when he found Tyson, and Rooney was somewhat of a contender before the Arguello fight. He just wasn't what he was.
There is more on this in floyd pattersons autobiography by W K STRATTON. He fell out with that jim norris, blinky palermo etc!
He was a very paranoid man indeed with outrageous theories for the time! as i said before read that patterson book.
There's a biography about Cus out now called "Confusing the Enemy." I have a copy, but haven't gotten around to reading it since its bigger than the NYC yellow pages. Mike devotes two + chapters to Cus in his new book and they're worth the price of the whole book. On the subject of Cus being crazy, I remember that John Garfield once in a post here said the same thing about him, and he didn't qualify it either. JG said that Cus was a complete nutjob.
Another funny thing about d'Amato is he let Jim Jacobs, a grown man, actually live at his house for many years. What's the story here ?
its the truth.:deal are you gay too? there is nothing wrong with that. childish of you calling the mods for a known fact  stop the ***ism
Although some are calling for the mods, this has been rumoured by several sources so at worst (in terms of factuality) it's a "repeated rumour"
