regardless on why the fight never happened when cotto was in his prime. whether it was arum thinking cotto was too green or floyd retiring.
i would say yes. he lost to a lesser fighter in castillo. floyd ran like forrest for the rest of his career after jose
I think it would have been kind of like their matchup in 2012. Maybe less time spent on the ropes. Cotto has his moments of success and makes Floyd work harder than usual, but drops a clear decision
147 is Cottos real weight at that weight he would be faster and move better also we are talking about pre beat downs from Concreto and a possibly Roided Pac and with a real trainer that was the Cuban I forget his name, of course it would have been more competitive and maybe Cotto wins.
NO .. Arum kept Cotto away from Floyd when Floyd moved up from 135 to 140. Arum and Cotto camp both stated Cotto was not ready for Floyd .. Cotto could never beat Floyd his only chance was to try and out weigh Floyds at the higher weight. Not only that Floyd is 5 years older then Cotto. To say Castillio was a lesser fighter than Cotto, just goes to show how stupid you are.
No. A Prime Cotto, would mean a Prime Floyd. The Floyd that fought Gatti is too aggressive, too fast, and too strong for Cotto. I think he beats him more impressively at 140, then he does at 154.
Cotto was a re-primed, re-young, re-hungry, re-undefeated, re-lion when Mayweather fought him. Where have you been?
Wouldn't say prime. I'm a big Cotto fan and I wouldn't disrespect him like that. I think he was resurgent though. 3 TKO prior though. That was his best shot against Floyd. A 35 year old Floyd was slower, more conservative. And the Cotto that fought Floyd was the smartest and most skilled he's ever been. If Cotto was gonna beat him, it would have been then.
at 140 ud expect alot more engagement from floyd and cotto it would be a ****ing blood bath of a fight, again its hard to favor anyone over floyd. especially after he beat cotto at his own game at 154 on the inside
No. Although Cotto wasn't at his peak when they fought, neither was Mayweather. They were also fighting at JMW, which better suits Cotto. It was a good fight, but Mayweather clearly won. A prime Cotto would be up against a prime Mayweather, at a weight that suits Mayweather almost ideally. Cotto is a damn good fighter, but he's not equipped to beat Floyd.
