The Best ever would have fought the biggest threat of his era, would Floyd even beat a prime Dela Hoya?

While I do agree with luck and how it is being presented here, I have to disagree on one point. Some punch, even from a guy who is being beated up, might be well planed. A guy that times is opponent, a counter puncher, might let the punch a few, and even loose the fight, so that he can get that one shot.

Floyd Mayweather is definitely the hands down, very best of this boxing era.
That being said, I would bet against him if he faced SRL, SRR, Aaron Pryor, Roberto Duran, and a few others.

This, finally someone with common sense. I would actually give him a good chance against Duran but not SrR, Pryor, Hearns, Leonard, Trinidad, Whitaker.

    LOL.
As can be seen above and in other threads, fans tend to let emotions over rule their sense and simple thinking ability.
The reason they take it so personally has nothing to do with the sport of boxing itself.
