    maybe serg/murray - sergio looked like ****

abregu/dulorme - dulorme thought he was the man but abregu has skills

timmy/provo - timmy won the fight but it wasnt suppose to go down like that.

Not really sure if the Tyson Holyfield cherrypicking is true or false but ODLH did not cherrypick Shane Mosley, everyone was excited about that fight and nobody believed that it was going to be a walk in the park for ODLH.

Lennox Lewis sure as **** cherry picked Hashim Rahman. Rahman had a Ko loss to David Tua and another one to Oleg Maskaev on his record at the time. Everyone and their mothers thought of this fight as a mismatch.

Another good cherrypicking fight would be Super Brian Nielsen VS Dicky Ryan. Brian Nielsen was supposed to surpass Rocky Marciano's record of wins at heavyweight or something of the sort with that fight and it was against a fighter who had four losses on his record, one of them was to a comebacking James Buster Douglas who btw wasn't even the shadow of the man who beat Mike Tyson all them years earlier. Another was to some Mike White who had the impressive record of 25-10-1 and then there was ofcourse the Ko loss to Dino Homsey 2-2-0... stating the obvious Dicky Ryan wasn't seen as an undisputed unbeatable champion at that point in his career.

I wish you guys knew the truth......

Lennox had a warm up bout against Kirk Johnson Vitali was on the undercard he was also Lennox mandatory #1 challenger. Johnson backed out & to save the card folding Lennox took on his #1 contender at a few days. Lennox nearly took Vitali's face off & he was barely 80% ready a 100% Lennox and it would have been criminal.
Lennox retired because he had nothing left to prove He'd beaten every man he faced in the pro ring

Gotta admit a fav of mine was when Oscar took on little Manny Paquaio after going back on his " I want the winner of Cotto-Margarito for my farewell fight bragging. He saw what Tony did to Cotto & chickened out.
When Manny beat the crap out of Oscar Man was I leading the cheers

    Which part?

The purses, the odds, the timeframe between Spinks' last LHW fight and his HW fight? That's all verifiable. Don't just tease me now- if my take's wrong, let me know where the screwup is. :good

C'mon Jasper. How wasn't Holmes-Spinks I a cherry pick? All available info points directly to that conclusion.

Prove it wrong, and I'll be happy to hear the case and change my view on it.

A lot of what you say is "true" but there was so much more to the story.

This is what the old timers were saying at the time (i am 42 and these guys were in there 60s):

They were never going to let Holmes beat Marciano's record, there was no one rated at the time that could give him a credible challenge. They bought Spinx in as an underdog who could box and had the ability to go the distance. The odds in vegas were heavily in favour of Larry but at the last minute BIG money was placed on Spinx. As the story goes King was one of the ones putting big money on Micheal.

Spinx was not a cherrypick he was a credible foe who could box and was a lot fresher than the aging Holmes
