Should Tomasz Adamek be admitted into the Hall of Fame?

Corrales Castilio II was FOTY in 2005.

 

Yeah but Adamek vs. Briggs I ranks up there very close behind it.

Both of their battles could easily have been the FOTY if those years weren't so fortunately blessed. Take away Coralles vs. Castillo II and Monshipour vs. Sithchatchawal and there is a solid argument for the Adamek vs. Briggs rivalry getting top honors two years in a row. (which may be unprecedented? :huh)

 

I beleive the Arreola fight was also a candidate!

That's in the 3 highest and 3 seperate weight classes. Never thought about it that way.

 

I dont think he should, he just did not do enough. Even there are guys at hof who propably deserved it less than Adamek but few wrongs doesnt make one right.

Two weight class champ, that is quite good career. But that loss to Dawson left too much question marks then went to cw and had great win against USS. He should have stayed there longer(but the money fights at hw were irresistible which I can understand).

His hw career was massive disappointemnt imo. Loads of shitty fights with more than questionable results on few fights. That said his WAR againt Walker was one of the best hw fights for long time. It was classic brawl.:good

 

Absolutely a HOF. He's one of the eras biggest, most well known names. And that's going back awhile.
Why is a loss to Dawson such a horrible thing? I didn't see that fight. Did he get his ass kicked or what? The speed difference should have been huge and I imagine Adamek having issues with him.

 

This is an excellent question. I was wondering this myself recently. Right now I'm leaning "no". He fought in three divisions, but never dominated any of them. I'm not sure he was ever really considered the universal #1 fighter in any division he fought in, and if he was, it wasn't for long enough to have a reign.

For me, in order to be a HOF'er, you either need to unify and dominate one division for a long period of time, or become the consensus #1 in multiple divisions. If Adamek had stayed at cruiserweight and beaten David Haye, that would have tilted the balance in his favor. Or if he had a Ruiz-like sub-reign at heavyweight, that might have snuck him in too. But ultimately I think his decision to move to heavyweight doomed him because nothing there enhanced his legacy. The heavyweight division is at or near an historical low and he still failed to become more than a brief contender.

 

If Arreola wins the vacant title, Adameks career at HW would be vindicated. Not by actually winning the title, but by beating a prime Arreola when the odds were stacked clearly against him.

 

Tomasz was linear and Ring cruiserweight champion.

 

He should get in for his work at Cruiser alone!

 

Cruiserweight division has no lineage.

HOF status is not handed out to guys who ducked out of world title eliminators.

Adamek sorely needed a reign in his career. He needed to clean out a division. None of the three divisions he competed in were considered especially strong, and he never unified, cleaned out, or established a lengthy reign anywhere.

I'll put it this way - David Haye has outdone Adamek in every respect, career-wise, and I think he's only barely a Hall of Famer.

 

Adamek screwed his own legacy and probable HOF entry credentials by chasing money at heavyweight instead of unifying at cruiser. :nod

 

criteria for the boxing hall of fame these days is to win one of the 7 belts and defend it a few times....
so by those standards, yes he gets in
