He has a win against Provodnikov (albeit I haven't seen the fight but I have heard it being mentioned here with some form of dispute) and an unofficial "schooling-win" of the man at 140 lbs Danny Swift Garcia - who many people showed - and deservedly so - respect for his wins against khan and mathysse (zab to a lesser extent) He lost against Alvarado, but Alvarado isn't no push over. So how does he rank?
You need to refine your humour. Herrera should be the and in my eyes is the Lineal champ now. Garcia is the nr 1 contender, Matthysse nr 2, Provodnikov nr 3.... I think itsĀ“ś a fair list
Herrera threw one or two punches at a time and both fighters didn't do much enough to beat each other. The judge who scored 114-114 was resonable.
He threw a lot of two punch combos, he hurt Danny to the body and got him thinking about the body punches, throwing body jabs allowed him to turn to the side to avoid Danny's normal punches. Those jabs also allowed him to get inside without getting hit from Danny's hooks. Herrera was more active than Danny's opponents in the past with the exception of Khan. (who was too active and got KTFO) Herrera was able to mix up his punches and it kept Danny off balance.
Keep telling yourself that. Garcia did not win the fight. He got his hand raised by judges who had no intent of letting him lose unless he was literally fast asleep. This fiasco is just more evidence that belts, rankings should be disregarded. We Be Crooks can take their sanctioning and judges and pound sand. Herrera is now the man at 140, whether the WBC agrees or not.
