A lot of fighters, especially fighters with POWER, tend to get a bit overrated...

I'm not saying he's overrated, but he's far from proven.

A body shot win over an old Quintana at 154 is meh... Outboxing with virtual ease Jan Zaveck hasn't proven to be that great of an accomplishment. Diego Chavez doesn't look like much now, but I would bet it will one day. And knocking out Soto Karass is big only becuz of the knockout, not becuz of the victory itself.

None of those fighters have proven yet to be great accomplishments... So what's up? What does he still have to prove? Who does he have to face? Etc... (real questions too, not rhetorical)

Just want to know what the consensus of how good he IS and how good he WILL BE...

    thurman's the truth.....

    he's a complete boxer....

he can move, punch, has speed and can box....

you don't want to stand with him, you'll get ko'd....

he can fight at range, and is as good of boxer as there is at welter....

in saying that he's not a 'mayweather'..... but he's more than competent....

Thurman is the truth and hes only gonna get better. I say he domintaes the WW division once Mayweather leaves. i think he beats everybody at WW right now expect for Mayweather. Bradley and Pac both get KO, Ruslan would too. Broner would have trouble. he'll box up Pauile and Judah and Guerrero, Thurman is the man.

Never fought anyone as yet but looks a real threat. Collazo called him out but no response from Keith.

Thurman's been solid so far. Decent skills, good power, reasonably quick hands, shown he can keep busy and go 12. Question marks for me are defense, chin, and durability - areas that will be tested against better opposition.

I think anyone else in the top 10-15 would be good for Thurman to go after next. Throw him in against Guerrero or something.

this is the funniest thing ive read. Pacquiao has to much speed and footwork for thurman. Thurman doesnt have the power to knock out bradley or the workrate movement or speed to win more rounds against him. Ruslan and guerrero would both be good fights with him to really test him but imo ruslan would put him down. He has underrated hand speed and good power. Broner would get more then likely lose. Why even mention judah hes irrevelent. Paulie may give him some problems.

I haven't exactly studied him but I think he's pretty good. I won't rate him as better than pretty good until he is more proven.
I'd like to see him fight Kell Brook, I think that would be entertaining. Malignaggi would give him a good test without presenting too much of a threat. Collazo is another good test he should be able to pass.
I'd have to favour Pacquiao and Bradley over him but I think he could give them a good fight. I think he has real potential.
People who say GGG is over rated and has beat nobody will probably rate Thurman highly and tout him as a future p4p fighter.

He didn't need to go to war with Soto Karass to defeat him like Berto and Maidana.

Don't know about any consensus (if there is any at all) but my take is he's quite unpolished.

Collazo says he gains nothing from fighting Keith, in other words he's ducking one time...
