I miss Don King...

    ...There, I said it and I meant it.

    I've been a fan for a long time, and I remember the days of Don stealing from fighters, and his never-ending hype, but I'll tell you, after watching this wretched Golden Boy thing with Malik Scott this weekend, I'm hoping Don can somehow find the fountain of youth.

    Every weekend, it seems like Oscar and Meestair Boab air-ROOM (as Manny calls him) compete to see who can put on the biggest farce, cheat the public the most with the crappiest card, or pull of the most horrid fix.

    About Arum, Tex Cobb said it best:

    "“Don King is like everybody else in boxing. He’s a liar, a thief, a murderer and a racketeer. And a con man. But there ain’t anybody as bad as Bob Arum. That New York City Jew lawyer will make you hate city folks, Jews, and lawyers in the same day.”

    Yeah, Don stole from a lot of boxers, but nobody can tell you he didn't put on incredible M-F fights, CLASSICS we all still watch on youtube. Don, please come back and give us your last few years!

    Don't think it would solve anything.

    King has promoted lots of classic great great fights though...

    The only reason people think Arum is worse than King is because today Arum is still relevant.

    King, when he was still a force in this sport was every bit as bad - and in terms of how he ripped off fighters, worse - than Arum.

    Whenever I see the pictures of Don King with his hair and american flags just remember you don't truly the see the real Don King. His whole image is just part of his fake persona.

    he was on chris rock show once. hes as straight as they come. chris asked him "what happened with mike and all his money?" king devilishly responds," i still got mine!" as he laughing hysterically

    kings business practices finally did him in after 3 decades, while arum is still at the top...king wasnt as smart as he thought as he is totally irrelevant now

    I know Don King was an *******, but the point is HE PUT ON GOOD FIGHTS and I'm a boxing fan. It wasn't another setup, sham or fix every other weekend like what we get from Top Rank and GBP

    yeah tyson vs seldon wasnt a sham?
    not giving meldrick taylor a rematch from chavez wasnt a sham until 5 years later?
    Frankie Randall getting absolutley robbed vs chavez in fight II wasnt a sham?
    king protesting some phony "long count" against the douglas fight and him and the WBC refusing to immedialey recognize buster as champion after that ass kicking he laid on tyson?
    yes he put on plenty of good fights but also was just as bad with the corrupt stuff to equal it out

    Think about it, when was the last time there was an Arum / DLH main event where something wasn't wrong with...

    one of the fighters

    the referee

    or the judges?

    It's been a while.

    very true but the good fights far outweigh the negatives. gbp/tr are doing their best to kill the sport.

    He did do everything he could to make his shows stand out controversy, glitter and sparkles he could throw one hell of a promotion. He would use every angle.....
